🏃‍♀️🏃 – NOTICE TO LOCAL RESIDENTS 🏃‍♂️🏃

📅 Sunday 27 September 2026
⏰ Race starts at 9:00am

The Bourton Half Marathon will be back on Sunday 27 September, with runners taking on 13.1 miles through Bourton-on-the-Water, Farmington, Sherborne and Clapton-on-the-Hill, before heading back to the finish at Greystones Farm.

🚗 A little information for residents

Please be aware that there may be short delays to traffic while runners pass through the course. Roads are not generally closed for the duration of the event; traffic may simply need to be held briefly at certain points to allow runners to pass safely.

Our marshals will be out around the course helping to keep both runners and road users safe, and we’ll do everything we can to keep any disruption to a minimum.

👏 And we’d love your support!

If the race passes your house or your village, please come outside and give our runners a cheer! A wave, clap or a bit of encouragement can make a huge difference — particularly when those Cotswold hills start taking their toll! 😅

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Another busy weekend for with members racing across the country!

Three headed north for the 45th Great North Run, joining over 63,000 runners from Newcastle to South Shields. Melissa Samuel, running for Diabetes UK, smashed over 10 minutes from her PB to finish in 2:33:24! 👏 Linda Edwards ran 2:20:35 and John Gibson 2:20:33.

At the Stratford Big 10K & Half Marathon, Dougal Hamilton-Smith had an exceptional run, clocking 38:45 in the 10K, while Susan Hunt completed the Half in 2:01:40.

Kieran Vallance faced the Allerthorpe Sundown 70.3 Triathlon in Yorkshire – 1900m swim, 90km bike and 21km run – completing the epic challenge in 6:15:38! 💪

At Worcester, Tim Hemming ran 42:12 in the 10K, with Michael Balfour finishing in 55:05. Fresh from the Sydney Marathon, Claire Carol took on the Half Marathon in 2:24:49.

Janet Balinski completed the beautiful Lake Vyrnwy Half in 2:36:20, while Mollie Heyworth ran the Cotswold Lakes 10K in 81:43. Mollie will be taking on her second London Marathon next year! 🎉

Closer to home, John Harding tackled the undulating Angels 10K in 59:52.

👏 A big shoutout to our new member, Diksha Sharma, who completed the Worcester 10K in a brilliant 1:01:06! 🎉🏃‍♀️- A fantastic run — well done, Diksha! 💙❤️

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ WEEKEND ROUND-UP ❤️💙

There was plenty of choice for this weekend, with members racing across the country.

On Saturday, Steph Lane opted for the celebrating its 15th year in support of Alderton Acorns Pre School and Toddlers. With plenty of local competition, Steph confidently finished 1st woman in 18:38. 🥇

Also on Saturday, a group travelled to Oxfordshire for the
Young Dougal Hamilton-Smith led Bourton home in 71:47, followed by Ian Tolfts 80:05 and Lisa Braid 86:57. Second-claim members Kevin Goodwill 69:04 and Rebecca Townsend 75:08 also produced excellent performances. 👏

On Sunday, Arianna Downs took on the scenic, off-road Coln Valley Trail 10K, finishing 2nd senior woman in 49:09. 🥈

Meanwhile, Jaq Underwood joined around 8,000 runners at the , celebrating its 40th anniversary. Jaq ran 51:47, finishing an excellent 7th V60.

Further afield, Susan Hunt raced the Stirling 10K, enjoying views of Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument while recording 52:49 and 6th V60. 🏰

Michela Sartori (still buzzing from West Ham’s win against Derby County the day before ⚒️⚒️⚒️) ran the Wilne 10K in Derbyshire with her friend Georgia. The pair crossed the line smiling in 73:33, with Georgia celebrating a PB. 🎉

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ A PLUM WEEKEND FOR BOURTON ROADRUNNERS! 🍑💙❤️

Early Sunday morning, 11 Bourton Roadrunners headed to Worcestershire for the Pershore Plum 10K, part of the annual Plum Festival celebrations. A challenging multi-terrain course took runners across quiet roads, riverside paths and countryside trails before finishing in Abbey Park. 🌳

🏁 Dougal Hamilton-Smith led Bourton home in 40:25, finishing an impressive 8th overall & 3rd senior man. Close behind were Darren Long – 41:54 and Tim Hemming – 43:10 (MV55/3). 🥉

🌟 Niamh Shoemark produced an excellent run, finishing 2nd woman overall in 44:07 & FV55/1! 🥈🥇

More podium success followed with Maxine Emes – 46:27 (FV35/2) 🥈 and Susan Hunt – 53:59 (FV55/2) 🥈.

🇦🇺 Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Claire Carroll took on the Sydney Marathon. After a freak accident while in Australia resulted in hospitalisation and surgery, it looked unlikely she would make the start line. But Claire wasn’t to be defeated 💪 and recovered sufficiently to complete the full 42.2km in 5:32:40. An incredible display of determination! 👏❤️

🏃‍♀️ BOURTON ROADRUNNERS IN ACTION! 💙❤️

⚡ Evesham Park Velo 5K

On Wednesday evening, a small group of Bourton Roadrunners headed to the enclosed cycle circuit at Evesham Park Velo, where a strong field provided the perfect opportunity for some fast racing.

🌟 Stephanie Lane led the way for Bourton with a superb 18:08, taking 1st woman by just eight seconds! 🥇👏

Kevin Goodwill, competing for Cheltenham & County Harriers, clocked an impressive 19:26, with Darren Long tracking him closely and producing a strong 19:56. Maxine Emes completed the Bourton contingent in 22:14. 💪

🌲 Wendover Woods Trail Half Marathon

On Saturday, Louise Colwyn took on the challenging Wendover Woods Trail Half Marathon, tackling forest tracks and plenty of sustained elevation on the edge of the Chiltern Hills. ⛰️

With the race forming part of her preparations for the Chicago Marathon this autumn, Louise delivered exactly what the training plan called for, finishing strongly in 2:33:44. 👏🇺🇸

🏃 Tuesday & Thursday Evening Runs – 6pm

Our 6pm runs will now split into two led groups, each following suitable routes:

⚡ Faster Group – approximately 9:30 min/mile or faster

🌿 Steadier Group – approximately 10:30 min/mile or slower

This means you can choose the group that best suits your current pace, making the runs more comfortable, sociable and enjoyable — while helping our LiRFs keep everyone together safely. ❤️💙

We’ll also be introducing some new routes alongside our existing favourites!

🔥 Tuesday Efforts Sessions

Our popular Tuesday efforts sessions will continue, led by Graham, Claire, Lorna, Gary and Pippa, with Lynn joining the rota. 🙌

🌟 NEW: Mini-Efforts

On the first Tuesday of every month, Lorna will lead a beginner-friendly ‘mini-efforts’ session alongside the normal 6pm runs.

It’s the perfect introduction to interval/fartlek-style training if you’ve always wondered what an efforts session involves but haven’t quite fancied jumping straight in! 😊
