Sir David English Sports Centre is operated by the registered charity BH Live in partnership with Bournemouth School Charitable Trust. Located on East Way close to Castlepoint shopping centre, the centre has lots of high-quality fitness facilities including a well-equipped gym complete with cardio zone, free weights area, resistance machines and functional fitness spaces. It has a multi purpose gr

oup exercise studio with a timetable of group exercise classes running seven days a week including Les Mills™ BodyPump, BodyCombat and Core, circuits, Pilates, yoga, family gym sessions and more. The centre also is a community sports venue and a hub for club activities, promoting grassroots sports development and working closely with neighbouring schools to encourage young people to be active. Outdoors there are three six-a-side 3G rubber crumb training pitches and eight netball courts where teams regularly train and compete on a local, regional and national level. The centre is also home to AirJumpX, a super-sized indoor inflatable obstacle course with a giant side, jelly mountain, wipe-out balls, and assault course. 🌸🌿 A year on… and our rewilding project is thriving! 🌿🌸

Last year, we began rewilding the green space outside BH Live Active, Sir David English, and the transformation has been amazing to see 💚

What started as a simple idea has now become a colourful haven filled with beautiful native wildflowers, buzzing bees 🐝 and fluttering butterflies 🦋 using the area as their very own pollen highway.

From vibrant Oxeye Daisies and Red Campion to patches of Knapweed, the space has come to life and is helping support local wildlife right outside our centre 🌼🌾

It’s incredible to see nature taking root, and even better knowing the space is now making a real difference for pollinators and biodiversity.
Keep an eye out next time you visit… you might spot some wildlife hard at work! 🐦✨

Join us as we aim to summit Mount Everest… again and again! 💪

Using stair climbers, we’ll be working together to reach the full height of Everest (8,000m). It’s all about teamwork, determination and seeing just how far we can go together 🙌

Hi all 👋

📅This weekend (13 June -14 June), our car park will be busier than usual due to a local sports event taking place. The rest of the centre will be open and running as usual.

During this time, please allow extra time to get here. Where possible, please walk 🚶‍♀️ cycle 🚲 or take public transport 🚌 as the car park will be busier than normal.

Please check our activity timetables for any changes. Alternative facilities and activities are available to view and book via the BH Live Active app 📲

Keep the kids active and entertained this May half term with our exciting holiday camps at BH Live Active, Sir David English , running Tuesday 26 – Friday 29 May.

Across four fun-filled days, children aged 5–11 can get stuck into a mix of sports, games, and creative activities designed to spark imagination and keep them moving.

🤩With half day and full day availability, including the optional upgrade for hot or cold food served during the day too, we have everything to keep the kids entertained this half term!

LiveWell Dorset will be visiting selected BH Live Active centres this March, offering FREE NHS Health Checks for people aged 40–74.

🧡A Health Check looks at things like your heart health, blood pressure and cholesterol. Helping spot potential issues early and keep you feeling well for longer.
