With the better weather last week (apart from Thursday!) we were able to get a better week of junior cricket, with some notable wins for our U15, U9 and U8 teams.

🔴On Monday our U13 team lost to Wimborne, who posted an excellent 172/5 off 20 overs, despite Emily Lochhead getting two wickets in two balls. In response, Winton were bowled out for 63 with Torben Chetland top scoring with 21.

⚫️On Tuesday our U15 Royals team continued their winning streak with a 16 run victory against Verwood B. The Royals scored 127/6 with an excellent 35 from Shanu Mandivalli before restricting Verwood to 111/5 off 20 overs to win the game, with Alex Leach returning with figures of 2/10 off his 3 overs.

🔴On Friday our U12 team lost by 5 wickets to Poole Town Dolphins. Bowled out for 59 with Philip Moseley scoring 23, the team did well to get two wickets before Poole reached the target.

⚫️On Saturday our U9 team won a thriller against Witchampton Wizards with an excellent bowling and fielding display. The team won their first game of the season with the whole team performing brilliantly.

🔴Also on Saturday our U11 team lost by 36 runs to Verwood. Verwood posted a strong 110 off 16 overs and despite Seth Willis’ 25 not out, the team fell short of the target on this occasion.

⚫️Finally on Sunday our U8 team won by 36 runs against Lions Youth Strikers. Wickets from Illyaas Merali and Seyon Prithivi was then followed by a strong batting performance led by Ishaaq Merali’s 25 runs to win the game.

Well done to all who played🏏🔴⚫️

We had sunshine this weekend, but a mixed bag of results!

Well done to our 1st XI and 2nd XI with strong performances and wins🏏

Also some great individual performances from Aksh*t Jha (1st XI) with 5/10, Nick Nineham (3rd XI) with 5/34 and Rohan Chikky (2nd XI) storming another century with 107 🏏⭐️

Here are some words from captains:

🔴 John Duke (1st XI)
On a very difficult wicket, Winton posted 99 all out, top scoring honours were shared between L Crutchley & J May with 23. However a strong bowling performance restricted Lymington to 77 all out, with A Jha taking 5-10 supported by E Trapnell taking 3-14. A tough day for cricket, but we move onto Longparish away hoping to continue our strong start to the season.

⚫️ Duran Clayton (2nd XI)
Great match with key performances with Animesh & Chikky forming a much needed partnership of 102 runs helping us to 296/9 after 45 overs. In the field as a team were brilliant stopping countless boundaries. The star bowler was Amith with 4/22 including a run out.

🔴 Mahesh Nagamallareddy (3rd XI)
Great effort from Reece and Nick, lost from great winning situation with quick wickets

⚫️ Will Lochhead (5th XI)
The Development Team came up against a strong New Milton team on Saturday and on being put into bat, on a tricky batting surface, were bowled out for 74, with Aarav Jain and Shanu Mandivalli both putting up resistance to score 18 and 19 respectively. In response, New Milton batted well to reach their target with the loss of one wicket. We look forward to a stronger showing next weekend from the team.

Round-up time for our 5 adult teams. We managed 2/5 wins this week🏏💪

Here are some words from the captains:

🔴John Duke (1st XI)
On a notorious difficult wicket, Winton won the toss and elected to bat. A stand out knock on return from University by Liam Crutchley (58) was the highlight in Wintons 209 all out. This game was won by an excellent opening spell from Jack Humphrey who took 5-22 & was supported by Nick Nineham who took 3-19 allowing Winton to bowl Verwood out for 73.

⚫️Duran Clayton (2nd XI)
A lovely 122 run partnership with Chikky and Mahesh followed up by an 80 run partnership with Chikky and Ayesh set up the team on a good days batting reaching 347/7 in our 45 overs.
Our bowling was really impressive but unfortunately no decision came our way. Great bowling performances by Vinu (3/28) and Deepak (2/46).
MoM: Chikky

🔴Mahesh Nagamallareddy (3rd XI)
Kiran Kambam played really well with 84 chasing 268.

⚫️ Adam Worsdale (4th XI)
A beautiful day was matched by a flat pitch and billiard table outfield. Winning the toss and electing to bat we built a score of 216, which is decent, but I was worried it was 30 runs too little. And so it proved. Having only 10 in the field was a handicap as we fought to control some good batting. Alas, it was not to be as Swanage chased the total down with a few wickets to spare

🔴Will Lochhead (5th XI)
On a very hot day, Bournemouth won the toss and decided to bat. With determined batting, three of their players scored half centuries aided at times by Winton not being as sharp in the field or taking their chances, not helped by the hot conditions. With excellent bowling from Keerthana Muppavarapu and Masum Ahmed we managed to take 8 wickets as Bournemouth scored 250/8.

In reply, Winton kept themselves in with a chance of meeting their target led once again by the ever impressive Jose Josento with 82 off 81 balls. Despite fighting to the end with an impressive 21 off 22 balls by Jacob Lochhead, the frequent loss of wickets meant that we posted 192 in response, losing by 58 runs.

The stars of the day were definitely Keerthana with 4 wickets and Jose’s 82. While we ended our winning streak the development team stays in 5th place.
