Two departing captains this season 🥲
Vickers-
What a clubman.
Senior men’s rugby is thriving at EDD, and JV has played a huge part in making that happen. Since 2020, he has captained the side and helped bridge the gap between two merging clubs, providing consistency, commitment, and leadership when the club needed it most.
He led us through that difficult first post-Covid season, when numbers were low, fixtures still had to be fulfilled, and survival was far from guaranteed. Stay up we did.
A workhorse on the pitch and a voice of honesty and reason off it, JV is a true gentleman- respected by teammates and opponents alike.
Thank you, JV, for everything you’ve given to EDD. We look forward to seeing you back in the second row soon 😉
Tiegs-
Tiegs’ contribution to the club has been immense.
Whether on the pitch or at training, she constantly pushed herself and those around her to higher standards. We are incredibly proud of her achievements with the England Deaf team.
Off the pitch, her impact has been just as significant. She’s organised countless socials, been the welcoming face behind the bar hundreds of times, coached the kids on Sunday mornings, and played a full and active role on the club committee- all while qualifying as a paramedic.
Tiegs has never stopped putting her hand up to help, and the club is better because of it.
Thank you, Tiegs, for everything you’ve done for EDD. You leave big boots to fill, and you’ll be greatly missed.
