Yesterday on our regular Thursday evening paddle we had a large group of paddlers and a taster group in beautiful warm june sunlight !!
Sea mist drew us up river rather than down to the Christchurch Harbour.

The leaders as ever catered for the different group abilities, and it was lovely to see people gainng confidence and skills

Wonderful weather for our usual thursday evening paddle. One group went up river in assorted kayak, canoes ,and another in seakayaks did a long circumnavigation of the habour at high tide

Cost of course through Southbourne Canoe Club is £55.
To join one of our courses, whether Discover, Explore or Sea Kayak Award, you must be a Club member. You will see dates of the courses to book onto once you have paid your membership.
There are two dates to choose from: 10th May and 31st May 2026

We paddle from Hengistbury Head Outdoors at Hengistbury Head outdoor centre on Thursday evenings throughout the summer, and our winter paddling schedule runs from October through March.
Paddles away from the centre are mostly day trips on some weekends during the summer and each has a minimum skill level to be eligible for participation.

To paddle from our Club base, Hengistbury Head Outdoors now requires anyone who wants to use the facilities including the slipway to pay their HHO membership fee. This costs £60 until the end of June and £120 thereafter.

Two days of training with Anatole Myint both on and off the Water were done to teach and update training, the Paddle Leaders, knowledge and skills required to take out Groups of paddlers and ensure all have a Safe enjoyable Paddle

Thursday paddles started this week with a full exciting calendar of training events weekend trips, paddle fit Classes etc for our Members to sign up to.
This week a group paddled up stream and enjoyed the Christchuch loop under clear blue skys , and another group , paddled down to the harbour sandspit .
