COACHING SESSION

The next Skills Development Session will be held on Thursday 2nd July at 10.30hrs.

The format is our usual 90 minute group coaching session involving five skill stations - this time focusing on alignment - followed by around 60 minutes of another challenging variant of pétanque as a practice game.

Group size is limited to a maximum of 12 participants. If you are interested in joining this session, please contact me by email at: [email protected]. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

in view of the RED warning for heat throughout the day tomorrow, Wednesday, we have decided it would be unwise to risk our members in the blazing hot sun of Muscliff. As a result we are cancelling the Club Afternoon session.
Stay cool, be careful, stay hydrated.

WEDNESDAY’S PETANQUE AT MUSCLIFF IS CANCELLED>

This morning Aimee Rickman of this parish played in the semi final of the Nations Cup in the European Champs in Spain. She partnered Claire Geddes in this senior competition.
The Nations Cup is the secondary competition to the main championship but the standard is still high and you have to perform well to progress.

In the semi final our girls went down to Ukraine who picked up three in the final end.

Throughout Aimee, just 14yrs, has shown she deserves to play at this level, she has fitted in with her senior colleagues and played her part in both the ladies doubles and the mixed doubles with Dean Ashby.

Those watching have been impressed by Aimee‘s maturity and skill. Her performance under pressure was exceptional.

Aimee we are proud of you. An amazing performance with more to come in the future.

Thankyou to those that streamed the matches, we back in Bournemouth were cheering you on from our kitchens.

Kai Sheffield will play in he Men’s Main Semi final at about mid-day today. The men’s nation cup final with Kai and Dean will be later. We wish them well.

What a day at the European Championships

Today these amazing ladies, our Aimee and Claire Geddes secured themselves a medal, tomorrow will determine its colour.

Semi final in the Nations Cup tomorrow morning in the Ladies Doubles.

They both played amazingly well.

Also, well done to Kai Sheffield who tomorrow will compete in the semi finals of the Main Single Championship. The first Englishman to progress this far in the European Championships.

Whoop whoop.

Magic v Monarchs

Magic made a great start to the evening winning both of the trebles. Trevor, Debs and Sean took the first win 13-1 against Brain R, Brian M and Kelvin. Neil, Carole and Steve faced a sterner battle against Simon, Marilyn and Geoff but won 13-8. 2-0 to Magic.

Whatever was said in Monarchs half time team talk saw them come out fighting hard in the doubles. The Monarchs two Brian’s saw off Carole and Steve 13-4. Trevor and Debs took an early lead against Simon and Marilyn only to see them fight back to an 8-4 lead. The Magic pair fought back to take a small lead only for Monarchs pair to battle on to take the game 13-11. The match was all square at 2-2.

Sean and Neil played Kelvin and Geoff. The game was a series of ends where scoring was limited to single points and the lead constantly changed hands. At 9-9 things changed. A 3 for Monarchs put them one point from the game and match but a 4 from Magic in the final end snatched the game and the match away from them.

Well played Monarchs but it will be Magic facing Falcons in the semi-final of the cup!

Muscliff was a sea of purple this evening as four Muscliff teams did battle in the NFPL Cup and Maniacs took on Harriers in the Plate.

Maniacs started well until Paula, Margaret and Matthew conceded a six and did not recover going down 9-13. Alongside them Alex R, Keith and David also had a hic-up, conceding a four and the lead, but they came back to win to eight.

All to play for. Things started badly for the home team. Paula and Matthew lost their unbeaten record going down to Tony and Richard 9-13. Fortunately the rest of the madmen put things right, Alex R (shooting like a demon) and Chris won to five and David with Keith took their game 13-6.

A 3-2 (57-45) victory.

Highlight of the match for me was Alex hitting three out of three in the penultimate end to take his team to the edge of victory.

I believe Marauders beat Wizards and Magic beat Monarchs in their games. We will await their reports.

European Championships under way.
Kia beat Turkey in the first round of the singles.
Claire Geddes and our Aimee lost in the first round of the Ladies Doubles to Lithuania 3-12.
Kia and Dean due to play Bulgaria in the Men’s Doubles.
Claire to play Monaco in the Ladies Singles.
Dean and our Aimee will be against Sweden in the first round of the Mixed Doubles.

We will all be cheering on Aimee. Amazing for a 14yr old to represent the English Senior team.
