Early Sunday evening proved to be perfect for training on the Stour at Christchurch. Calm and peaceful with gorgeous reflections on the water and pretty well sheltered from the wind. Made even better to stop off for a quick chat with Holly on our way back. Thanks for the photo Holly.

It’s 1st June

SUPscene365 SUMMER CHALLENGES begin!

Challenge 1 was detailed last week.

Here’s Challenge 2………..

BAITER to the ROYAL MOTOR YACHT CLUB
(approx 4km)

There’s a set route to follow for 3 reasons …
1. To keep everyone well away from the shipping channels
2. To take away the chance of speeding along by the shipping channel on an outgoing spring tide!! 😆
3. So that everyone will do approx. the same distance

The route is simple, especially if you are familiar with Poole Harbour.

Below is a photo of the route and then photos of each key stage. (If you wish to paddle nearer the shoreline than the route suggests that is fine and your choice, but not further out as that would make a shorter route.)

Start and Stop point must be clear on your Strava/Garmin entry.

The return journey is not part of the challenge.

Remember you can enter Challenge 1 or Challenge 2 but not both.

Female and male categories.

Challenges end on 30th September

So proud of these 4 lovely ladies. First proper Open Sea SUP Tour along the coast for all of them and they did so well we carried on for an extra hour and covered 9km.
A bit of practise to get their sea legs at the start then we were away! Branksome Dene Chine to Dudley Chine then back along to Sandbanks and return.

Ladybird and I have been out in Poole Harbour this afternoon planning the 2nd SUPscene Summer Challenge. Route and details will be posted over the weekend.

Challenge 2 is aimed at paddlers who may not have the confidence - or knowledge of tides in the harbour - to attempt Challenge 1. Something for everyone. 😊

Seals, Swans, Sea, Sun and SUP

Stunning tour for Rhiann, Iain and Bev today. It truly had a little bit of everything. Launched Christchurch, spotted a seal as we followed the estuary down to Mudeford, meandered alongside the shipping channel to keep sufficient depth, stopped at Mudeford and walked through the beach huts to enjoy 20 minutes practising playing on the choppy open sea. A little detour on the way back gave a second seal sighting near Mudeford Quay. Hundreds of beautifully elegant swans competed the picture. Oh, and a slight wind to push us all the way back. What could have been more perfect? ………………an ice cream (in Iain’s view) - sadly the queue was too long!

This is fast becoming one of our most popular tours. Look out for new dates coming soon.

What brilliant weather and water conditions we had for our Christchurch Harbour/Estuary tour today. Even included a short optional paddle on the sea at Mudeford - bit bumpy with lots of boat wash but good fun and first time on open sea for Bev and Het.
