So, following on from yesterday’s post where I highlighted some of the saves I made as I’m back playing in goal… Life isn’t all positives.
I also conceded three, so here are the videos.
Now, as a goalkeeper and a coach, we truly believe we can save everything. Looking back at these, I honestly think I should have done better on all three. So let me talk you through them:
**Goal 1:**
I should have jumped. Simple as that. If I commit, jump and dive, I probably pull off a great, camera worthy save. Instead, I hesitated, bottled it, didn’t go, and the ball ends up in the net.
**Goal 2:**
This one’s a stinker from me. Cross comes in, and I’m anticipating a touch from the striker, but it never comes. Before I can react, it’s already in the back of the goal and I’m left looking silly.
Rule number one: never anticipate the flick, make your move and deal with what’s actually happening.
**Goal 3:**
I’ll be honest, this is a tough one. The delivery is excellent, too high for me to come and claim, the struggles of being five foot nothing. The header at the back post is quality. I did have someone on the post, so maybe there’s a polite conversation to be had there.
But realistically, I still take responsibility, I should have shifted across quicker and at least made an attempt. Maybe a bit of fatigue creeping in late in the game.
Plenty of positives overall, but always things to improve.
