Cake sale in aid of DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal 2-3pm TODAY

The Sports Club are holding a cake/food sale TODAY (Sunday 20th March) from 2-3pm at the Jubilee Ground Pavilion with all money raised donated to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

We will also be helping to raise awareness of the new government “homes for Ukrainian Refugees” scheme.

We are currently planning on holding our Boxing Day Football matches this coming Sunday, should we need to cancel the event we will of course be in touch again.

Junior game from 10.30am

Adult game from 11am

Matches will be capped at 11-a side, arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Mulled wine, mince pies and biscuits will be available. There is no charge, but donations will be welcome.

As always, please do not attend if you have any Covid symptoms or feel unwell.

This evening is the Bourn Sports Club family sports evening. This will be a low-key event but will be a nice way for families to get back together after the summer holidays and have some fun!
BBQ available for cash only.

5pm family races - running, wheelbarrow, 3-legged, family relay.

Football Fundraiser reaches £1750 for Bourn School Bus Appeal

Two dads from Bourn Primary, Dave Norman and Simon Wade organised an adult football tournament last weekend. The tournament had run in previous year but had been restricted due to the pandemic in 2020. This year they decided to support the Bourn School Reading Bus Appeal. Despite the scorching temperatures the tournament was a great success played competitively but with a friendly atmosphere!

The tournament raised £875, but astonishingly this total was then doubled by a very generous supporter to £1750. This brings the bus appeal to over half of its £30k target. Many thanks to the organisers Dave and Simon and all who took part.

The traditional Bourn Sports Club sports and social evening will also be on July 17th from 4.30pm at the Rec (government restrictions allowing)
The final of the Mixed Doubles tennis tournament will be played as well as the usual children and adult games and races.
If you could lend a hand to help organise in advance or on the day, or even half an hour on the BBQ please let us know!

It would be great if the community could get behind this local school reading initiative and donate services or money to help renovate the bus and turn it into a library.

Reading is the most important skill for children to develop and a love of reading has life-long benefits. We need more space, so we've got an old double decker bus that we want to transform into an exciting and engaging place to relax with a book!

Finally the message from the LTA we have been waiting for!

✔ Outdoor tennis courts will be able to open from 29 March.

Recreational tennis will be able to resume, including singles and doubles, 1:1 coaching and formally organised group activities, including group coaching (maximum group size and court ratios subject to confirmation)

We know that many of you have found it tougher than ever during this lockdown. While we had all wanted restrictions to be lifted without delay and made a strong case for that, it's great that we now have a date for which you can get back on court and we'll continue to do all we can to help make it clear what each step through the roadmap means for tennis.

The tennis courts are now open for doubles! Members can book courts on the booking sheet outside the Pavilion.
The cricket net is also ready for a summer of practising your shots.

Please adhere to social distancing and use handwash (by the courts) before you start.

Lovely to see all those families braving the weather at the Boxing Day football yesterday. Both adults’ and youngsters’ games played in good spirit. Thanks to Steve Baker for refereeing and Ben White for marking out the pitch beforehand.
