Have you heard that experts recommend adults should get 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week or 75 minutes of vigorous activity each week. Swimming is an excellent way to do this and work the entire body and cardiovascular system. An hour of swimming can burn as many calories as running, without all the impact on your bones and joints.
There are a host of benefits you may gain from swimming regularly.
One of the biggest benefits of swimming is that it truly works your entire body, head to toe. Swimming:

• increases your heart rate without stressing your body.
• tones muscles
• builds strength and endurance.

Different strokes work on different muscle groups, while the water provides the resistance. But which ever stroke you use, it’s a all over workout to move through the water.
It’s not just your body that gets the workout, but your cardiovascular system too. Swimming can make your heart and lungs strong too and can even lower blood pressure.
Although it’s always good to consult a doctor before starting or resuming an exercise program. Swimming can be a great option for people with arthritis, an injury, disability.
Exercise has been shown to lower stress and improve your mood. Making swimming and aquatic workouts psychologically beneficial for people, it can also have the power to help you sleep better at night.
