Botley's collaboration with to form a +70's team (SotBot) to enter the Hampshire FA +70 league saw two teams of 7 take on two Wi******er teams in preparation for the league that starts in September.
A great learning opportunity to play last year's league winners saw some competitive games.
Our Red team recording 1 win, 1 loss and a draw Our blue team recorded 2 losses and a draw.
Next we need to select a squad of ten for the upcoming league matches.
A huge thank you to for bringing two competitive teams and a special mention to Sholing Football Club ling FC who kindly hosted the mini tournament on their fantastic pitch. Special mentions to both referees who kept the games flowing and ensuring the league rules were observed.

The team's first venture in the FA Cup today and again in sweltering heat. We started slowly losing to Hawks 2-0 but rallied in our next match against Pompey Royals with a creditable 0-0 draw.
Our third match against strong opponents Wi******er saw a great defensive match and another 0-0 draw.
We saved our best performance for the last game against Gosport having several shots before slotting the winner moments before the final whistle winning 1-0.
Wi******er and Pompey played the final decider and Pompey won so they go on to the regional heat.
An enjoyable day and great experience. We can only get stronger.⚽💪⚽

Our first friendly tournament for the +70's. Hosted by Sholing on their fabulous pitch. A great learning experience in readiness for the Hampshire 70's league.

In sweltering heat Botley played it's first tournament in our new kit sponsored by Botley Mills and Snowdrop Place.
Our first game against a very strong and well organised Eastleigh team saw us play well in parts but an eventual loss. Three Guernsey players Dave, Jason and Jacqui integrated well into our squad and in the second game against Guernsey Green we ran out 1-0 winners in a very tightly contested game. Our final game in the league format saw us playing a strong Portsmouth team and whilst we played well in patches we eventually ran out losers. This left us our final game to contest 3rd place as a rematch with Guernsey Green. Buoyed by our previous win we started well and put together some neat moves only to give away an unfortunate penalty by encroachment in the area. Guernsey converted the penalty and reversed the previous games result to finish 3rd.
A great experience for Botley and we are looking forward to a return tournament in Guernsey.

Botley Walking Football Club will be playing our first tournament in our new kit on Saturday 11th July at Places Leisure, Fleming Park, Eastleigh.
The tournament hosts are Eastleigh Walking Football Club and they are welcoming players from Guernsey, Wi******er, Portsmouth Community and ourselves. We have the pleasure of integrating 3 Guernsey players (Dave, Jason and Jacqui)into our squad and we are really looking forward to a competitive and fun event. The assembled teams will be competing for the Sarnia Cup in both the over 50's and over 65 leagues.
If anyone wants to come along and see what walking football is all about then the first kick off is scheduled for approx 10:30 and entry is free to the public.
It's looking like sun hats, sunscreen and plenty of water will be the order of the day.👍⚽👍⚽

Proudly wearing our new kits provided by our sponsors Botley Mills and Snowdrop Place and supporting our main sponsor at their Summer Fayre on July 4th.
Our first matches in the new kit will be at Places Leisure, Fleming Park, Eastleigh on July 11th. A tournament organised by Eastleigh Walking football club featuring teams from Guernsey, Eastleigh, Wi******er and Portsmouth.
Kick off from 10:30am for anyone who wants to come along and support the team.

Our 12 hour event supporting Prostate Cancer UK was an overwhelming success.
We smashed our fundraising target of £800 with £3564 collected to date thanks to the support and generosity of: individuals, teams, Botley Parish Council and a huge donation from Sunnybank House Luxury Care home.

A big thanks to local businesses who provided vouchers for spot and team prizes. A shout out to Snowdrop Place Care home for providing bottled water and snacks on the day. Much needed as the weather was fabulous.

Botley players shared the burden of the task but were ably supported by teams from, Eastleigh Academy, Eastleigh Mobility, Eastleigh, Gosport, Romsey, Totton, Warsash and Wi******er.
In the spirit of the competition the Trophy was shared by the finalists whose match was drawn. Congratulations to Gosport and Warsash.
Medals ( generously provided by Paul Read and his wife) were handed out to all participants.
Special mentions for, Alison Chapman, Paul Kelly, Ian Gregory and Mark Cooper for keeping the event running smoothly. Gavin McKenzie for his supply of delicious sandwiches. Danny Seagrave for providing a range of pies and savouries from Plested Pies.
Lastly but importantly our referees on the day without whom the mini tournament event wouldn't have run so well. Step up Dan Tuckey, Ed Holmes and Kevin Roberts 👏
