1 year ago this week, we welcomed several new black belts and a couple of promotions to 2nd Dan black belts.

How time flys

It was our first senior grading since Covid came along .

It also shows how everyone else has progressed in the last 12 moths too

Awesome , keep putting in the work and you reap the rewards 👍🏼🥋

Well this time 45 years ago I first stepped in a Dojo in Hoyland , Barnsley. At Hoyland sports centre and later that year started attending the Dojo in Kirkbalk School in Hoyland.

I’m not sure if either building are still standing, at the time they were run by John Suel and Alf Gullick as part of Asano Sensei’s SKI association.

My journey has been long and varied and I hope it continues for many more years.

We’re back training from Monday 3rd January….

⛩ Kangeiko is a Japanese word made up of three characters (寒稽古) literally meaning “cold training.”

But in general refers to the first training session of the year, usually in winter in or outside the dojo.

The concept is a type of toughness training – forcing oneself to perform under difficult or even painful conditions.
