If I had a pound for every time a woman said to me, "I don't eat carbs," I'd be a millionaire.

Carbs are not the enemy, and cutting out carbs will not get you that figure.

Lifting weights and being in a calorie deficit will get you that figure.

If you cut out carbs you'll be miserable and have low energy and not be fuelled enough to train…

What she should have said is, "I made myself miserable to get this figure."

Well guess what!? I have NEVER cut out carbs and am the strongest and leanest and happiest I’ve ever been 💁🏻‍♀️

I also need to caveat that if you choose to cut out carbs for a prolonged period of time, you will struggle to reintroduce them because you will really mess up your gut!

Stop blaming cortisol, for your belly fat!

I hate to tell you this: whilst cortisol does play a role… your belly fat is more likely from being in a calorie surplus, declining oestrogen levels, and lack of muscle mass.

It is unlikely that you have chronically high cortisol levels that are the driving factor in your belly fat.

Fix your diet, your sleep, your training and the fat will start to shift for 90% of you 💁🏻‍♀️

Incline walking will not change your body composition.

There. I said it.

It burns calories. That’s the mechanism. There’s no magic fat burning window, no special post-lift glycogen trick, no protocol that bypasses the thing that actually matters.

You’re in a deficit, you lose fat. You’re not, you don’t. The treadmill incline is irrelevant to that equation.

If you enjoy it and you’ve got the time, do it. Burning extra calories helps create the deficit. But that’s all it’s doing.

Stop being sold sexy mechanisms for boring maths.

If any of this resonates, I want you to know that what she was doing before is not failing. It is being misled. The Pilates apps, the treadmill walks, the skipping lunch and calling it discipline. It is everywhere and it is marketed directly at you.

She came to me exhausted, winging her food, and doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons.

5 months later she is 8.5kg lighter, stronger than she has ever been, and finally feels like herself again.

And we are just getting started.
