BIKE IS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER”… APPARENTLY NOT!

This Santa Cruz Bronson came into us after the customer purchased it from someone on eBay, with the seller claiming it was in “perfect working order.”

Well… that turned out to be one ENORMOUS fib! 🤦‍♂️😂

Once we stripped the bike down, we discovered that EVERY SINGLE BEARING on the bike was rusted and shot! 😳

And when we say every bearing, we mean EVERY bearing — wheel bearings, frame/pivot bearings, headset bearings… the lot! 🔩💥

But we didn’t stop there.

❌ Incorrect 160mm brake rotors front and rear
❌ Completely worn drivetrain
❌ Bottom bracket absolutely finished
❌ Jockey wheels needing replacement

So, we set about putting this Bronson back where it belongs. 🔧

✅ Every bearing replaced throughout the entire bike
✅ New headset bearings
✅ Correct 203mm front / 180mm rear brake rotors fitted
✅ New chain
✅ New cassette
✅ New jockey wheels
✅ New bottom bracket
✅ Full strip, rebuild and setup

And the result? 😍🔥

This Bronson is now looking absolutely mint and, more importantly, riding like a brand-new bike!

It’s amazing what a proper strip-down and some TLC can do. 👌

The best bit? We’re looking forward to getting it back to the customer this evening so they can finally enjoy the bike they thought they were buying in the first place! 🚴‍♂️💨

This GT Fury came into Progressive Cycles after we picked it up from Farmer John’s MTB Park, and let’s just say… it had definitely had a proper race weekend! 😂🏁

First job — get rid of all that race weekend mud! 🧼💦 We gave the bike a serious deep clean before getting stuck into the mechanical work.

🔧 The work carried out:
✅ Full set of wheel bearings replaced
✅ Freehub bearings replaced
✅ New cassette fitted after finding bent teeth on the old one
✅ New gear cable fitted
✅ Full check over of the bike
✅ Everything cleaned, checked and set up ready to go

Once we had finished, this Fury was feeling smooth, crisp and ready for another beating! 😈🔥

Next stop… Dyfi Bike Park on the 20th September! 🌲⛰️

Hopefully it stays a little cleaner this time… but somehow I doubt it! 😂

This e-bike came to us after its owner was unfortunately knocked off by a vehicle. After carrying out a full inspection, we found the damage was more extensive than it first appeared.
The bike required:
🔧 Brand new wheelset
🔧 New derailleur & hanger
🔧 New handlebar
🔧 New stem
🔧 New grips
…and a thorough rebuild to get it back to its best.

Today was a day I’ll never forget. ❤️🚴‍♂️

We completed the 50-mile LCL bike ride in under 3.5 hours, and I honestly couldn’t be prouder.

A couple of years ago, because of my health, there is no way I would have been able to achieve something like this. I decided it was time to change my life, cleaned up my diet, lost the weight, and today I completed my longest ride to date. Proof that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.

But what made today even more special was sharing it with my two amazing kids, Bethany and Callum. There were a few little moans and groans along the way (as you’d expect over 50 miles! 😂), but neither of them gave up. They dug deep, kept those pedals turning, and crossed the finish line.

I honestly couldn’t be any prouder of you both. Watching you push through when it got tough was incredible.

Here’s to making memories, setting new goals, and proving that anything is possible when you refuse to quit. ❤️
