Sadly, due to the current pandemic we have not been able to hold the New Year’s Day Triathlon. Normally this time of year we are madly pulling together materials and the preparations for the big day, with Christmas as a side show on the way to the main event. So, this year we are all at a bit of a loose end, however many of you will be keeping fit and getting your self ready for the challenges of next year. Some of our Scottish Triathlon stars are also out there training and preparing for their next events, we asked a few to let us know what NYD tri means to them.
First up is David McNamee http://www.davidmcnamee.co.uk/
David represented Scotland in Commonwealth Games and Great Britain in the World Triathlon Series, he has twice finished on the podium at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, and we are all hoping, like he is, that he will claim that top spot.
Here is what he had to say about his start into competitive triathlon:
“Competing in the NYD triathlon was a spur of the moment idea which ended up changing the direction of my life. 14 years later the race still represents what I love about this sport”. 🤙😎
It would be great to hear what the race means for you. Please share your thoughts with us in comments; stories, poems, pictures, video messages are all good. We will try to pull together a storybook of all your contributions.
