🌲 WELL WILD – MORE THAN JUST THE OUTDOORS 🌲
Its time to introduce you to some of our sponsors in this year's Burnhouse Trophy Day
Championship.
John from well wild has kindly donated vouchers as prizes at our final, but what is well wild?
Well wild is something that had i known about i would have been promoting and moving forward will have my full backing! Hopefully we can also find a way of combining the 2 even if just for a day.
John has spent decades working across youth work, mental health, addiction services, additional support, the NHS and criminal justice, and he’s combined that experience with something many of us know can be incredibly powerful… the great outdoors.
Based at Rough Castle Woods near the Falkirk Wheel, Well Wild combines Forest School, bushcraft and therapeutic outdoor learning for children, young people, families and adults.
Youngsters can learn to build shelters, light fires, cook outdoors, explore nature, navigate and safely use tools — but the real lessons go much deeper.
🌿 Building confidence
🌿 Improving resilience and independence
🌿 Supporting wellbeing and mental health
🌿 Learning to work with and trust others
🌿 Getting away from screens and everyday pressures
🌿 Developing a genuine understanding and appreciation of nature
For youngsters who don't necessarily thrive within four classroom walls, including those with additional support needs, this kind of environment can be absolutely invaluable.
John offers everything from 1-to-1 therapeutic sessions and family sessions to schools, groups, bushcraft, camping and survival experiences and team-building days.
I absolutely love the philosophy behind it:
Not every classroom has four walls. 🌲❤️
Sometimes getting muddy, building a fire, exploring a woodland and discovering what you're capable of can teach you far more than you realise.
A fantastic concept, a wealth of experience behind it and something I think is well worth supporting. 👏🌿
