Horwich Town Rounders Club

Horwich Town Rounders Club Horwich Town Rounders Club has been established since 2008. A fun, friendly & sociable club playing in the Bolton Ladies Rounders League.

Weekly fixtures played both at home and away. Our home ground is Green Lane Playing Fields. We currently have 1 team and sometimes train on Thursday nights, 7pm in season (April - August). Home matches are on a Monday and Away matches can take place between Monday and Thursday throughout the away fixture week. We have two level 2 coaches delivering sessions catered for all ages and abilities. We welcome existing, new and returning players to our club. Player Registration is £2.50 and includes insurance. Subs are £2.50 per week on a play and pay basis. We have a full compliment of playing kit, with compulsory purchase of a polo and hoodie, the rest of our playing kit is optional. Our home ground is Green Lane Playing Fields, opposite the bus stop on Old Lords Crescent. We have regular socials and meet ups from pub crawls to camping and close the season with an awards and presentation evening followed by the league presentation evening at the Macron Stadium should we pick up 1st place in the league section.

What a game tonight, ladies! 👏🔥

That fielding was on fire 🔥 Honestly, the improvement across the whole team is massive.

We’ll politely gloss over parts of that first batting innings 😂🙈… but the second innings?! THAT’S more like it! Gemma and Jane absolutely bossing it, Sophie nearly sending one over the fence 💪😂 and some cracking gambles and running from everyone else. You really showed what you can do when the confidence kicks in!

Even the Dents8 XI ladies were commenting on how well you played and how much you’ve improved from the last game. The ref also had friends watching who specifically commented on our sportsmanship and confidence, which I think says a lot about this team ❤️

Players of the match tonight went to Olivia and Eliza 👏👏 Those balls coming in from way out at the back were brilliant! And Eliza with the shot stopping on second apparently all that goalkeeper training is finally earning its keep 😂⚽ plus a cracking catch!

Every single one of you should be proud of how far you’ve come this season. We might not have got the win tonight, but compare the team that stepped onto the pitch at the beginning of the season to the one that played tonight, a massive difference. Playing against tougher and more experienced teams will only make you better players.

It’s genuinely been a pleasure guiding you through our first season together ❤️ Hopefully this is just the first of many!

As mentioned tonight, you were all player of the match in our eyes 🤩

For now, you’ve earned a few weeks off 🙌

JOKES! You really thing I’m ending the season with a post like that.

It was soooo lovely to play against M&D tonight. we all had a blast. (Except Lisa and her broken ankle, you WILL be being wrapped in bubble wrap next season)

Our player of the match was our fantastic Emma her batting and fielding were absolutely chefs kiss tonight 💋

And of course I can not forget it was our savannahs 18th!!!!! We all ended up having a couple of gins on a school night and the buzz balls were out in full force!

We have honestly had the best season and I’m going to miss playing along side you until next year❤️

Adele did not bring the champers again tonight😔 but I guess having it last week was good enough.

I CANNOT wait to hit the dance floor on BOTH presentation nights with you all. But I better get a slide on our presentation just to myself

Public Apology

We want to apologise for some of the content that has recently been posted on our social media page.

Our intention has always been to have a bit of fun with our posts and capture the banter and spirit of rounders, but we recognise that some of the comments have not been the most respectful in regards to certain areas and we apologise for that. No offence was meant at all.

We completely understand why concerns have been raised.

We are sorry to anyone who has been offended or upset by the posts. We also want to make clear that we have the utmost respect for our fellow teams, players, umpires and the league, and we appreciate the time and effort that goes into making the league happen.

We have taken the feedback on board and will make sure that our social media reflects the respect and sportsmanship that we want our club to stand for.

Thank you to those who have raised their concerns with us. We genuinely appreciate the opportunity to put things right.

WE ARE THE WINNERS BABYYYYYY🥂🍾

We did it! To be fair we have done it all season🫰🫰

We played northern monkey, the make or break match, the team that almost defeated us a couple of months ago, and also second in the league.

BUT WE WERE UNSTOPPABLE!

I’m not going to lie to you, I did have sweat coming out of every gland in my body. Was it worth it? YES. Should I taken my jumper off sooner? Maybe 🤔 but I’m a superstitious queen and didn’t want to get out.

In the first innings we scored an INCREDIBLE 207. We knew we had them shook as they only scored 39.

I’m not going to lie I have no idea what the final score was as I was being sprayed with prosecco. Not just any prosecco mind. It was m&s prosecco. But what I do know is we won! In an innings! Against second in the league.

Now some of you might be wondering why I made this post all about me? I got player of the match (you should all know who makes these posts by now). And I am not too modest to say I was on fireeee 🔥

One thing that does make me super proud is how we have all grown. Even tho I still get mothered (it’s needed) because I am still 8 to all of you. I couldn’t be happier to be part of the team.

We all absolutely smashed it out the park this season and we couldnt have done it without each and every one of you in the team.

I will see you ALL at both presentation evenings to get our boogy on 🕺🕺and obviously for a few gins too 🍹🍹

Now on to our final match next week where we can all have some funnnnnnnnn.

Tonight was wet and wild.. And not in a good way. On the positive side we could all blame the wind when the ball didn’t go exactly where planned.

It will be no shock to anyone that we SMASHED it out of the park… yet again.

The end of the season is within touching distance and I am nothing if not proud of how well we have done this season. We are the team to be feared.

We started off very strong with our sensible batting getting up to 132 in the first innings. Unfortunately MTK could not catch up and the final score was…..

Our player of the match was of course Lisa… AGAIN

Butttttt a very special mention to Emma who was fielding the back all on her own, but she made that field her bi*ch.

We are the purple princesses of the league are nobody will be taking out first place title this season.

P.s thanks a lot Lisa. My finger is double the size 🖕🏼

It was another warm one tonight. You wouldn’t think we are in Bolton with the weather we’ve been having 🌞

We played BLC in Farnworth and we all LOVE a good cricket pitch.

We had balls from other people’s games, we had balls on roofs. BALLS EVERYWHERE👀

But it was of course another win for Horwich

The scores on the doors were Horwich 132 (I) and BLC 77.

We all played really well, very tight as Kath says 😉But our player of the match was Olivia who stepped up to play for us in our hour of need. She definitely has Lisa’s legs 🦵

We have had a great season guys and we only have a couple of matches left.

I’ll see you all on Monday evening and you BETTER bring your A game.

It’s been a hot minute guys. But I’m back, and I’m back with good news!

It was another win tonight for us (smashed it) and we are still well on track for moving up.

There will be some scenes at the presentation let me tell you!

Tonight we played smiths. In the first innings we scored a cool 99, which was the exact amount smiths scored in the 1st AND 2nd innings together.

We all went back in for 1 more bat each and got up to 119 to declare the innings.

Final score was smiths 99 and Horwich 119

Big shout out to our player of the match Ameerah. Slay girl

We are heading into our last few matches now (I know you will all miss my weekly posts) and we are defiantly the team to be feared.

Anyways queens let’s keep going and finish on top!

Tonight the B team girlies did their thing! Another night of cheering each other on and keeping a smile on your face even when the other team are winning.

You all cheer each other on and nobody is allowed to be upset on the rounders pitch!

The score absolutely does not reflect on the hard work you put in, but unfortunately is was a loss tonight.

Buckle in everyone because Engerloond are not the only winners round here!!!

Tonight we played Sankeys, who might I add, we only beat by 4 points at the beginning of the season, so we knew the pressure would be on.

The first innings… we don’t talk about the first innings. BUT THE SECOND INNINGS. 💩hot is all I’m gonna say.

The final score was 197 Horwich and sakeys 74

Despite Donna being on deaths door her batting was unbelievable. And also a special shout out to Emma as her and Donna were really smashing it out at the end between them.

Despite Donna’s best effort she was robbed of man of the match by yours truly (if you don’t know who makes these posts by now it’s Abbie) I did however do some fantastic catches and hits from backstop and I’m just really the back bone of the team if I do say so myself😏😮‍💨. Jokes obviously😆

But seriously guys just keep doing what we are doing for our cup match on Friday and let’s smash that one too (even tho we won’t have a team for the final) but we will worry about that in a few weeks. I’m sure Lisa and Donna can move their holidays round to accommodate us😉😉😉

Horwich winning is about as predictable as Lisa Rothwell getting a rounder.

Which brings me on to our player of the match which was our very own whippet Lisa.

I’ve lost count of how many positions she plays all at the same time. She’s EVERYWHERE

Another big week next week as we also have the cup match on Friday 😩 and I want to see EVERYONE there. No excuse!

As long as we keep on doing what we are doing I have no doubt we will be collecting 2 trophies at the presentation.

Make sure you’re all getting your best clobber out for a night to remember🕺🕺
