🏌️♂️ Centenary Hickory Golf Challenge – Saturday 12th September 🏌️♀️
What a fantastic day we had for our Centenary Hickory Golf Challenge with 11 teams of four taking part in a Texas Scramble using authentic hickory clubs, similar to those that would have been played with in the 1920s, kindly provided by Timewarp Golf.
Gavin Bottrell gave a fascinating talk on the history of golf, taking us back as far as the 1600s and explaining how golf clubs such as a Brassie, Mashie and a Niblick were used including clubs for balls that used to float on the water and needed a special club to play them.
It certainly gave everyone a greater appreciation of just how different the game was in years gone by!
🏆 Congratulations to our winners:
Jack Ramsay, Louise Haslam, Daniel Haslam & Anthony Stirling
🥈 Runners-up:
Elaine Henderson, Steve Henderson, Jayne Murray & Martin Murray.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped to organise the day and to Gavin for bringing the history of the game to life, and for providing the wonderful hickory clubs.
A great day of golf, history and plenty of fun! ⛳️👏
