This superb test of moorland golf was first opened in 1891 and was the very first Golf Club in the Bolton area (hence the ‘Bolton’ and the ‘Old’ in the name). Next year, 2016, the club celebrates it’s 125th year, with plenty of exciting events planned, so there has never been a better time to visit. This fantastic championship golf course, measuring a testing 6432 yards, par 72 (white tees), 6042

yards, par 70 (yellow tees) and 5503 yards, par 73 (Ladies red tees) is a true test of golf. Bolton Old Links has 18 uniquely challenging holes, an impressive professional shop occupied by our full time Resident PGA Professional Sean Owen, buggy and electric trolley hire, societies, golf day’s and visitors are welcomed. A very warm welcome awaits you in the clubhouse from our catering staff, where you are invited to enjoy a drink, snack or tasty meal in relaxing and comfortable surroundings. Bolton Old Links has been selected as a venue for numerous professional tournaments, including the European Satellite Tour, the Wilson PGA Championship, Exel Golf Tour, 1836 Tour and most recently the Lancashire PGA fourball championship. Our ‘flagship event’ – the Old Links Trophy – takes place on the first Saturday in September each year, and dates back to 1958. This is a Gents 36 hole amateur scratch ‘Northern Order of Merit’ competition, which attracts some of the top amateur golfers. In 1924 land was obtained by the Club and the course was developed into its present 18 hole layout by renowned Golf Course architect Dr Alister MacKenzie, who was responsible for many wonderful courses worldwide, including Augusta National, home of ‘The Masters’. As a result, we are very proud to have been granted membership of the MacKenzie Society.

The Lancashire Amateur Championship was held recently Manchester Golf Club where we had a very strong representation from the club resulting in us winning the overall team prize. The team consisting of jackbryan0211 and daniel.clutton will now go on to represent lancashire_golf in the national finals Kedleston Park Golf Club in September.

We’re delighted to announce that Carol Helme has been announced as the Lancashire Ladies Seniors Captain for 2028, taking up the vice captaincy in 2027. A well known,competitive golfer in the region for some time, this is very well deserved and we’re also delighted to host the Lancashire Ladies Seniors Championship during the same year.

🏌️‍♂️⛳️ TWO HOLE IN ONE’S ON THE SAME HOLE IN THE SAME MATCH?! 1️⃣

We had an amazing occurrence out on the course today. Club members Andy Ahern and Pete Brandon both halved our 4th hole with hole in one’s!!

Pete slam dunked his 7 iron straight in the hole and Andy then
followed suit with an 8 iron. An extremely rare feat with the odds at 25million to one!!!

Congratulations to both who are pictured here. Is it too late for Masters Tournament entry for the pair? 😂

With the 2026 season upon us we welcome our dignitaries into office. Captain: Peter O’Sullivan, Lady Captain Christine Clarke, Junior Captain Rafferty Platt and our President Sally Ann Attwood. Our chosen charities are The Christie Charity and Prostate Cancer Support Group Bolton and District who we hope to raise as much as possible during the year.
We were delighted to welcome past and present dignitaries from Bolton Golf Association who supported the drive in.

With the golf season around the corner and about to get into full swing we have several events in our calendar. On Friday 15th May we host our annual company day.
