🎉 🙌 The absolute scenes as Our Westhoughton Rangers under 10s win the amazing Tournament put on by Robin Park FC.

Entering at Europa level there were some good tests for the team and it came down to a penalty shoot out against Soccer HQ from Blackburn in the final after a goalless draw. The players kept their nerve and ended up victorious.

Highlights from the day were screamers from Hattie and Jacob and winning player of the tournament for the Rangers was Sesei who was colossus at the heart of the defence and helped the rangers in only conceding 2 goals in 98 minutes of football.

We have been to a number of semi finals and come up short so to see the team succeed today was an absolute delight.

A massive thank you to Robin Park for arranging an amazing competition. It must take so much hard work and dedication.

Today Westhoughton Rangers under 10s faced a very solid Cherrybrook Avengers side in the semi finals of the cup.

It wasn’t meant to be today with a narrow defeat following two kick in goals by Cherrybrook.

We were unfortunately unable to breach the Cherrybrook side with our best chance a fantastic effort by Hattie which was palmed wide.

All the players have been fantastic again this season and everyone associated should be proud of this great group.

🏆 Coach Gary gave his player of the match to Christian for some good early saves

🏆 Coach Paul gave his player of the match to Alistair who was defensively fantastic and made sole crucial tackles to keep the opponents at bay.

Good luck to Avengers in the final and we will go again next year.

Today our under 10s faced a strong Ashton Athletic side at home.

The game started tensely and this was a sign of things to come.

Ashton were quick out of the blocks and had an early chance one on one which was well smothered by Christian.

Shortly after this Isaac was denied by a good save from the Ashton Keeper. From the resulting corner the ball dropped to Eddie who laid the ball to the left for Hattie who hit a smart left foot shot. The ball cannoned off both posts and into the net for the lead.

Shortly after this Rangers again had a corner which was lofted in and Noah acrobatically attempted an overhead kick. Really good effort which went wide.

Into the second half the game remained close. Both teams had decent chances forcing smart saves from the goalkeepers but Rangers managed to hold out for the narrow win.

Albert played the central midfield role perfectly and kept to his task all game.

The whole team worked their socks off today with a reduced squad due to the holiday term.

🏆 Hattie had a fantastic match running the left wing. She scored the vital goal with a fantastic first time left footed finish.

🏆 Alistair was rock solid at the back along side his centre back partner Eddie. He bossed the match and won all the important duals.
