We say goodbye to Thomas Whitty as he heads back home after another succesful season.

Tom once again has been amazing to have at the club both on and off of the field.

Some stand out moments from Tom this year being his 61* in a match winning chase against local foes Bilton, and more spectacularly his winning wicket against Thirsk which saw the loss of his tooth!

We send Tom on his way with the clubs best wishes, as we wish him and Lysterfield all the best for the coming season.

Is the 3 peat on, I guess we will find out in April.

🏏 ONE LAST WEEKEND! 🏏

It’s the final round of fixtures for our senior and women’s teams this weekend and there’s plenty to play for!

🔵 1st XI are up against Beckwithshaw, with the chance to disrupt the promotion race at the top of the table.

🔵 2nd XI are at home, taking on Stockton & Hopgrove. Although guaranteed 3rd place, they'll be looking to finish on a high against the already promoted opposition.

🍕 Once the cricket is done, we’ll be heading back to the clubhouse, where the club will be putting on pizzas as we celebrate what has been a hugely successful year for the club!

🌟 But the big one…

Our women’s team head to York CC from 10am for the Yorkshire Softball Finals.

After another incredible year for the girls, they’ll be looking to finish it in style and they deserve a big crowd behind them!

Slight delay in posting, big bank holiday for the admins but another 2 wins for BP sides this weekend!

The 1st team hosted Studley Royal at BP, with Studley being asked to bat first. Studley got off to a great start in tough conditions, but once the first wicket fell BP began to take wickets at regular intervals. Pick of the bowlers in the middle overs being J Green 5-32 and ‘The King’ Danny White 3-30 who helped restrict Studley to 177.

A slow start driven by good bowling from Studley, saw BP restricted to 29-3. S Croft steadied the ship with a very well made 35, but wickets continued to fall. 150-7 and the game could of gone either way. Enter the newly (self) named ‘Clutch King’ E Noble 20*, who helped out T Whitty 71*, who played another remarkable innings to see the 1st team home to a 3 wicket victory.

2nd teams trip to York was a little more straight forward than the excitement at HQ. York 4s batted first and were restricted to 111AO. All the bowlers chipped in with some excellent figures, with F Richardson 4-9 and M Furze 3-23 being the pick of the bowlers. With rain looming, there was an element of urgency for BP to get the score knocked off. D Steward 40* and the Skipper D Shaw 30* navigated the chase with calculated aggression, with the winning total being accomplished in 18 overs.

Another great weekend for the club. 2 more games to go with the 1st team hosting Sessay, and the 2s travelling to Ovington, with the hopes of promotion very much alive!

The ladies make it to finals day! 👏👏👏

After a great season at the softball festivals this year, the ladies head to Malton this Sunday for the North Yorkshire finals.

All support would be extremely welcome! Go well to all those involved 💥

🏆 Final – 1.30pm on the Main Pitch
🥉 3rd/4th Place – 1.30pm on The Gannock

It’s 8-a-side softball cricket, with 16 overs per innings and 4 overs per pair – plenty of action to enjoy throughout the day.

Bill Preacher Bolton Percy Cricket Club

There are many people whose names become synonymous with a cricket club, and at Bolton Percy Cricket Club that person is undoubtedly Bill Preacher. Through decades of dedicated service, Bill has quietly become one of the driving forces behind one of Yorkshire's most picturesque village cricket clubs, ensuring that generations of players have been able to enjoy the game in an outstanding environment.

While he has occasionally contributed on the field as a player, it is away from the boundary rope where Bill has made his greatest impact. As a long-serving administrator, organiser and volunteer, he has devoted countless hours to the day-to-day running of the club, undertaking the often unseen work that is essential to the success of community cricket. Whether coordinating volunteers, overseeing the upkeep of the ground or driving improvements to the club's facilities, Bill has always placed the interests of Bolton Percy Cricket Club before his own.

His vision and commitment have helped the club evolve while preserving the unique character that makes Bolton Percy such a special place to play cricket. Among the many projects he has helped deliver was the installation of the club's ECB-approved artificial practice facility, providing an outstanding training environment for senior and junior cricketers alike. It is an investment that will benefit the club for generations to come.

Bill has also shown exceptional leadership whenever the club has faced adversity. Situated in a beautiful rural setting, Bolton Percy has periodically suffered significant flooding. Time and again, Bill has coordinated recovery efforts, organised volunteers and overseen the restoration of facilities, ensuring that cricket could resume as quickly as possible. His calm determination, practical leadership and unwavering commitment have become hallmarks of his service.

Those who know Bill rarely speak of one defining achievement. Instead, they speak of a lifetime of quiet dedication, reliability and selfless service. Through his willingness to solve problems, support others and continually place the club first, he has helped Bolton Percy Cricket Club become one of the region's finest examples of community cricket. Its reputation as a welcoming, family-orientated and progressive club owes much to his tireless efforts.

For decades of outstanding dedication to Bolton Percy Cricket Club, distinguished service as a League Umpire, and a lifetime spent supporting and strengthening grassroots cricket, Yorkshire Premier League North is proud to induct Bill Preacher into the YPLN Hall of Fame.

What a fantastic Sunday at Bolton Percy for our Roses & Women’s Festival! 🌹🏏

A great day of competitive cricket and we hope everybody who participated or supported enjoyed their day.

A huge thank you to all the teams who joined us and to everyone from the club who volunteered their time and helped make the day happen - with a special mention for the bacon sandwich crew, who somehow kept churning them out at an incredible rate! 🥓😂 We couldn’t have done it without you!

For those keeping an eye on our ladies’ results, it was one win and one loss on the day. That brought their superb winning streak to an end, but there was plenty of big hitting to celebrate, with several players giving their averages a notable boost! 💥🏏

3 for 3!!!

Bp fielded 3 sides this weekend, and delivered 3 wins. 1st team took the trip to Bilton in Ainsty. Bowling first BP restricted Bilton to 176. A fantastic opening spell from B McWalter 3-34, and T Whitty with an excellent 4-43. In response good progress was made, but wickets fell regularly. T Whitty 61* guided the 1st team to victory with a fantastically manufactured innings.

2nd team batted first at home against neighbours Tadcaster. Regular wickets fell, but the skipper D Shaw 47 held things together, with major support from the ever reliant M Furze who ended with 40*. Tadcasters response started well, with the visitors 60-0. F Richardson opened the door for BP with 3-17, ably supported by M Furze, C Parr & R Lindsay all picking up 2 wickets each.

3rd team took the short trip to Copmanthorpe for a friendly game and batted first. D Steward, A Sanford, J Wilson & J Pears all retired 30* as well as M Hutchinson making 28 in BPs 30 overs. The BP bowling was well and truly shared around with the skipper making use of 10 bowlers. Well done to A Sanford 2-2 and J Pears 2-12 following up their strong batting performances with wickets.

A great weekend for the club, with 3 teams playing and all picking up wins. We go again next weekend with the 1st team at home to Whitkirk and the 2nd team travelling to New Earswick.

We’re delighted to be hosting our Women’s Softball Festival on Sunday 16th August, with the Roses Girls Festival this from 10am and women’s softball from 1pm following on. It's been an incredible year for the girls who have gone from strength to strength and I know they're very excited to be welcoming all the teams down to BP for a full day of softball action!

Not the result we wanted for the 1s yesterday at Arthington Cricket Club but nonetheless, a good day out and the collective agreement on "special rice" being one of the best additions to a cricket tea in a while!
