17.05.26 - The Roaches & Hen Cloud.
Nice little spot, quick ascent up Hen Cloud, and you could see the nearby rocky edge of ramshaw rocks to the east. It was overcast, and had some rain on the way up, expecting a mixed day, by the end of the walk our coats had come on and off multiple times and even at one point had hail!! I also managed to get a little sun burnt aswell!!
The rocky edges wanted more exploring, as with many of the locations we have walked. We scambled over rocks, kiki pointing at high points she wants to get to and ending up spending plenty of time scrambling around the rocks!
Cloud hen is a quick up and down, then onto the roaches. As we approached the start, we drifted along the base of the cliff edges, without realising, but enjoyed the small forest edge with big rocks to climb over. The is a little link path back up to the top we walked up, a steep path but not scrambling. That lead up and along the rocky edge, some nice features to explore on the way to the trig point.
On the way back we took the high route, and got hit by a big shower!! Then traversed down the steeper section, with sliding down rocks, added a little fun at the end!

04.05.26 - White Path Moss, Stanedge Pole, High Neb.

Overcast day, no wind, started with low cloud. 3 peaks! Just under 10k, longest walk so far, but full of great rocks to climb on and distract adventurous minds!

Even at the start, we spotting some great rocks to climb, found a quiet spot for a bit of dinner. Kiki and i climbed rocks, and crawled through passages between the fallen rocks. Kiki was brave enough to scramble through a passage i couldnt squeeze through! We made it to White Path Moss shortly after lunch making our way down Stanage Edge.

While jumping on most of the rocks at the edge, looking down at the climbers, jumping over cracks, we came across Robin Hood Cave, which kiki loved getting straight in climbing through to the look out point.

We cut to Stanedge Pole, across the marsh, path was mostly dry with some wet patches. The cloud had lifted but still misty clouds, patches of dark clouds and still over cast. Emma wasnt waring full waterproof boots so needed a piggyback over the wider patches! The pole sat on the border between South Yorkshire and Derbyshire Dales, kiki enjoyed the idea of us walking on bothsides!

Back to Stanage Edge, the we debated whether to push on up to High Neb, an extra couple of kilometers added, there and back. On the way back we spotted some great places to explore another time, our feet were tired with all the climbing and scrambling over the rocky edges. We dropped down after stanage plantation, which we should have gone through!

By the time we got back to the car, the sun really wanted to push through.... but, typical to british weather, we all got burnt under the cloudy skys!!

25.04.26 Chrome hill.

Warm day, blue skys. Great location with 4 possible peaks to hit if you mapped it out and had the legs! Went around hollins hill, a slower gradiant up the dragons back, just before you go down a steep hill and kiki ran down (dragging me with her!). Kiki did great clumbing over the ridges.

We attempted the parkhouse peak (just me and kiki, emma waited at the bottom). Kiki was awsome up the first small little scamble up the rocky path, the next one i felt nervous, but we gave it ago.... kiki noted that mama was really far below, i told her to focus on the top!!, i didnt look down. We got over that one and had a sit down, spotted a safer route up we should have taken!! A lady on her way down kindly informed us the next bit was pretty hard, so we took the advice and turned back!!

Another time when kiki is older!

One bonus, was the amazing honesty shop. Was full of the best food!! But the ice pops were perfect to be eating back to the car..... was such a lovely touch to come across the beautiful shop at the end of our hike.

Today we hit the peaks.... weather suggested it was going to rain (or did i read it wrong!), so we decided to do a number of little easy peaks, and tick of a few that you cant get to as they are on private land so have no access!

Bole Hill, black rock, was a fun place, and nice start to the day. We messed around the rock edge, then made our way up with a little scramble up the through the forest. Then ran back down.... kiki likes to run, and i was super impressed with how she handled her self jumping from rock to rock!

Stanton Moor, the 'Cork Stone' was a lovely little suprise, with handles to help you climb it! Kiki wanted ago, but only let her do the first few handles! A moor with a few little quarries you can dip in and out, little rock edges to climb! With ancient features like the nine ladies (rock circle).

As the weather was great, as we were heading to sheffield we stopped by Higger Tor, which is a great place... been a few times and each time find something new to explore. Its such a nice quick stop with some amazing views!

Finished the day doing what kiki loves most, visiting waggamamas for noodles!!!

30.03.26_ it was forecast as 20% rain...... with sun..... but when the rain came it was heavy and it was a very windy day! Not really suitable for 5yr old legs when the path ends.... kiki ended up on shoulders for about 4k!
