We had one very happy girl this morning as Alice got to see Jill Scott off on her final leg of her coming home challenge from Bishop Auckland to Stadium of light. Getting her strip signed in the process.

Unfortunately Nancy was up and ready to join in the celebration but was struck by a sickness bug so cheered on from home.

Another outstanding performance from the girls this morning in our penultimate game of the season, securing another well-deserved win.

The girls started with a bang and were relentless from start to finish. Their passing, movement, ability to find space, and most importantly their teamwork, were exceptional. Not only did we score some brilliant goals, but the assists were just as impressive. Our build-up play was excellent today and caused our opponents all sorts of problems.

Today, though, one player stole the show – our cat, Olivia! 🧤👏 She was outstanding and produced by far her best performance of the season. Before the game, we spoke about commanding her box, being quick off her line, and making positive decisions, and she delivered on every point. Whether playing long or short, her decision-making was excellent, and nothing was getting past her today.

A well-deserved Coaches’ Player of the Match and Opposition Player of the Match award, topped off with a clean sheet! 👏👏🧤🧤

We now move on to our final game against Darlington. The girls are fully up for the challenge and looking forward to a great battle against a strong team. 💙⚽

Not the result we wanted today, but lessons learned and we move on to the next one.

We started well, keeping the ball and trying to play forward, but without really causing problems in the final third. Unfortunately, we conceded an own goal which put us behind, and from there the game went flat until the final 5–10 minutes. It was only then that we really tested the FOL back three and goalkeeper.

Today just wasn’t our day, and the girls’ concentration levels caused us some real problems throughout.

Special mention to Alice and Isla, who ran themselves into the ground on the wings and never stopped battling for the team 💪

🏆 THURSDAY’S TRAINER OF THE WEEK 🏆

This week’s award went to Isla Butler! 👏💎

Isla stood out all session with her positive attitude and encouragement towards her teammates. Her quick footwork helped her glide past players, and she was always eager to ask questions and learn more throughout training. ⚽🔥

As a reward for her fantastic effort and attitude, Isla got to wear the Captain’s armband for this week’s game against Shotton. 💙❤️

⚽️𝕄𝔸𝕋ℂℍ𝔻𝔸𝕐 ℝ𝕆𝕌ℕ𝔻𝕌ℙ⚽️

A lovely sunny morning at Washington Hub saw us take on Shotton Colts ☀️⚽

With only 8 players available in the heat, we knew it would be a tough one for the girls before a ball had even been kicked 🔥

But from the first whistle, you wouldn’t have known it.

The first half was full of energy, determination, and some fantastic football. We found space brilliantly, created chances, and finished them off with some great goals. Every single player worked tirelessly, battling for every ball and dominating all over the pitch. The girls looked fearless.

The second half was always going to be the real test.

With Shotton having the extra player and the heat beginning to take its toll, tired legs started to creep in. Concentration dipped for a moment and Shotton managed to pull one back but there was no stopping us at this point.

Every player dug deep, fighting through the exhaustion, throwing themselves into tackles, chasing every loose ball, and standing strong together right until the final whistle. It may not have been the prettiest football at times but it was full of heart, grit, and determination — and sometimes that’s what wins games 💪⚽

Special mention to Nancy, who came down to support the girls from the sidelines today despite being sidelined herself 🤕💙 The support and togetherness around this team never goes unnoticed.

Another special mention to Isla who wore the Captains armband after getting this weeks trainer of the week🔥

That was an absolutely outstanding performance from the girls today — the kind of football that makes you proud to stand on the sidelines and watch. From the very first whistle, the passing, movement, and build-up play were on another level. The girls moved the ball with confidence, composure, and real quality, and every attack looked dangerous.

The final balls were incredible — crosses, corners, dribble-ins — everything delivered with precision and purpose. And the finishing… WOW again 🤯🔥

We saw:
⚽ Half volleys
⚽ Brilliant pull-backs
⚽ Clinical finishes
⚽ And even an outrageous long-range lob from a cut-back corner!

It wasn’t just the football either — the work rate and determination were unbelievable. Every single player battled for every ball, chased every runner, and refused to give up. Even when we were outnumbered on counter attacks, somehow the girls still managed to sprint back, recover, and throw bodies behind the ball. That fight, desire, and togetherness was incredible to watch. 💙❤️🤍

Today wasn’t about one player carrying the team — it was about EVERYONE working for each other, supporting each other, and playing with courage and confidence. That was a proper TEAM performance 👏👏👏 Possibly the best performance we've seen this season🔥
