"Girl of the Game this week went to Martha and Maya.

It's far too difficult trying to narrow down Girl of the Game these days. Every week it could be pretty much the entire team but today we went for a double award again.

This was a really difficult game but Martha set the tone from the off. She's always had great feet but today she showed the side of her game that's grown so much over the last 6 months or so and won countless tackles, always got her body in front of the player to win the ball back and made so many recoveries in the first 10 minutes that it set the standard for the team to follow. Think Gandalf's "You shall not pass!"

Maya shared the award today for a brilliant display in midfield. She just never gets tired and as others start to drop off she somehow finds another gear and kicks on. As the game progressed she controlled it more and more by breaking up play, getting on the ball and driving the team forward with great skill and never ending energy. Relentless.

This week's match report comes from Coach Phil...

"The Girls finished their Spring Cup campaign today against the other girls' team in our division and I think anyone that watched that this morning would agree that there are some seriously talented lasses in the region. It was a great game between two teams that fought for everything.

We spoke before the game about trying to end the season on a high and to give everything as we don't have another game until September... The first question was, "when's September?" so although I'm not sure the teamtalk fully landed pre-match there was no need to worry, as from the second the ref blew his whistle the team were bang up for it.

It shouldn't be a surprise, though. The last few months have seen the team develop a desire and relentlessness that is next level. And they've brought the consistency to their matches. Winning every battle, winning every ball back and using it, heads up and looking for the pass.

Today, they defended from the front again and always had each other's backs. It's great to see.

The girls were clinical today and the finishing was excellent. Coach Abbey's finishing drills the last few weeks in training certainly paid off!

Each and every one of them should be immensely proud of themselves; not just for today but the full season. We spoke at the end about how they all worked for each other non stop and even though a few of them played in different positions to their normal/favourite they do so with enthusiasm and no complaining.

A brilliant attitude girls. I love watching you play! What a top team performance."

Lily impressed Coach Abbey in every match, giving 100% and getting back to help defend as well as up front to attack and get on the score sheet.

Last night, a few of our team took part in SMC Football Coaching 3v3 U9 tournament.

Boldon entered 3 teams, with a mixture of U9 and U8 players.

The three teams came up against their friends from CLS Pinks and Newcastle City Juniors.

There was lots of excellent football on display, and their fitness truly got tested, playing up to 6 games each and competing in 1v1 Game Changer challenges after each match.
The girls, although facing each other in some matches, were each other's biggest cheerleaders too, encouraging their team mates and cheering from the side. What a strong bond these girls have, a joy to see 😍

Treble Trouble came away winners on the night, going undefeated all night and bringing the trophy back to Boldon πŸ†
