A Trek Multitrack 720 donated by a veteran. Although this bike has been used for the John O Groats-Lands End route it was in great condition and only needed a few tweeks and a clean.

Some years ago I bought a carbon fibre hardtail but later sold it in favour of an ebike.
Recently, I was offered the chance to buy it back which I did and began the task of getting her back to her former beauty as it was used to tow kids around and was a bit battered, more battered that I though.
Anyway after soaking the cassette in diesel then vinegar for ages to get rid of some super hard crappy oil soaked dust, shiny new KMC gold chain, fixed the dropper, bled the brakes, fixed and regreased the loose rear hub and a bleddy good clean and Polish she is back!!

A veteran asked me if I had a bike he could use to see if he could get back into cycling.
I had just refurbished an old 26" wheel steel mountain bike and let him use it. After a short while we cycled 15 miles together and he was keen to progress.
I sourced a lightweight hybrid bike with 700c wheels and began upgrading it.
It needed the handlebars replacing as the original were narrow and straight, grips, new gear/brake mounting, couple of new brake cables, a bigger seat was requested and fitted, front mudguard, pannier, pannier bag and a stand.
The gears were covered in some god awful hard tar/grease combination which was removed and a general service carried out.
All parts (apart from the brake cables) were recycled from old scrap bikes.

After a year out to travel the world (Wales, Newquay and even Truro) I am back.
Nice easy one to start with, a nice Ridgeback that needed a deep clean, sorting the gears out, new pedals and a respray on the handlebars.

First of 2 ladies Ridgeback that recently came my way. Increasing admiring this British brand which didn't need any tinkering at all, although I did check the gears, brakes, bearings, cables and drivetrain just to make sure πŸ˜€

One life, live it, This way up etc etc πŸ˜‚
Land Rover Mountain bike. This needed a fair bit of work, the suspension forks were not working and upon stripping, there was half a bag of dirt in there, the drivetrain was clogged with old solidified oil and the gears needed indexing.
The handlebars were rusty and needed sanding down and respraying.

One of the reasons I started Gingernut Cycles, apart from reducing the number of bikes going to landfill, was to help people.
Today I was pleased to donate this bike to someone who was unable to drive for health reasons and just been made redundant.
This was the full package consisting of helmet, lights, pump, lock, spare inner tube, basic tools and pannier bags.
This bike was specifically sourced for them due to the terrain and needs of the person.
Happy to help and.hope it brings you miles of
smiles. ❀️
