Now it’s had a little time to sink in…
WE WON. ❤️
Asgard Cornwall won the Make a Difference Award – Active category from BBC Radio Cornwall.
And honestly, we’re still trying to take that in.
Because the truth is, we don’t do what we do for awards.
We don’t do it for recognition.
We don’t do it because we want people to tell us we’re doing a good job.
We do it because we genuinely want to help people.
We want people to feel good about themselves.
We want people to have something to focus on.
We want people to find a reason to get up, get moving and believe in themselves again.
We want to be a place where everyone belongs.
Men’s mental health is a huge part of what we do. We work hard to create a place where men can come in, train, talk, laugh, belong and sometimes just have somewhere to be.
We believe in inclusion.
We embrace neurodiversity.
We work hard to make sure that people from lower-income families aren’t simply priced out of being part of something positive.
We help women become stronger, safer and more confident.
And we understand Bodmin.
We understand our community, what it needs and, most importantly, what it is capable of.
Because Bodmin has something incredibly special.
People who genuinely want to change their lives.
People who decide they want a different path.
People who want to become healthier, stronger, happier and better versions of themselves.
And we get to be part of that.
That’s why winning this award means so much.
Not because we wanted an award.
But because it tells us that what we are doing matters.
That people see it.
That our community sees it.
And that the little things we do every single day can sometimes make a much bigger difference than we realise.
A massive thank you to BBC Cornwall for continuing to support us, champion us and shine a light on what we’re doing here in Bodmin. We genuinely cannot thank you enough. ❤️
Thank you to Bodmin Town Council and Cornwall Council for supporting us and believing in what we’re trying to achieve.
And Leigh Frost …
Your words meant so much to us.
Sometimes you’re so busy getting on with the next thing that you don’t stop and look at what you’ve actually built.
Hearing those words from you was a very special moment, and something we won’t forget.
And finally, to our Asgard family…
This award belongs to you too.
Every person who walks through our doors.
Every person who has pushed themselves when they didn’t think they could.
Every person who has found confidence, friendship, strength, purpose or simply a place where they feel they belong.
You are Asgard.
We’ll keep doing what we do.
We’ll keep opening the doors.
We’ll keep making space for people.
We’ll keep trying to change lives.
And we’ll keep trying to spread that feeling as far as we possibly can.
Because if we can make one person’s life a little better…
that’s enough reason to keep going.
But this time…
we’ll happily take the trophy. 🏆❤️
Thank you, BBC Radio Cornwall.
Thank you, Bodmin.
And thank you to every single person who believes in what we’re building.
WE WON.
And we’re bloody proud of it. ❤️🏆
