🟢🔵⚪ BEHIND THE SCENES | IT'S NOT ALL FOOTBALL! ⚪🔵🟢

Whilst we are always looking at ways to improve Blyth Town FC Over 40s, both on and off the field, there is something you don't always get to see...

We're a really close group of players — but more importantly, we're friends, FOOTBALL FRIENDS. ❤️

And, as you can probably imagine when you put a group of lads like us together, there are plenty of laughs, banter and more than our fair share of mickey-taking! 😂

Some of the banter has even resulted in nicknames, and in some cases, players are now better known by those nicknames than their actual names and there's a lot of stories! 🤣

It's all meant in good fun, and it's a big part of what makes this group what it is. We can give each other plenty of stick, but when it comes to stepping over that white line, we're all pulling in the same direction. 💚💙🤍

So, whilst you see the goals, saves, tackles and results on a Saturday, we thought we'd share a little bit of the other side of Blyth Town Over 40s...

And because we're all of a certain age, we thought we'd do it in a format that many of us grew up enjoying! 😁

🟢🔵⚪ FIXTURES & RESULTS SO FAR ⚪🔵🟢

We’re well into September now and, most importantly, we’re still unbeaten! 💪⚽

It’s been a fantastic start to the season, but we’re certainly not content with what we’ve achieved so far. The lads are starting to really find their rhythm, the new players have settled in brilliantly, and we’re beginning to see the team come together both on and off the pitch.

There’s still plenty of football to be played, and we want to keep improving, keep developing together and, most importantly, keep getting results.

We genuinely believe the best is yet to come! 🔥

🟢🔵⚪ MATCH REPORT | SUNDERLAND JETPATCHER 3–3 BLYTH TOWN OVER 40s ⚪🔵🟢

Blyth Town Over 40s continued their league campaign with an unbeaten, hard-earned point following a chaotic 3–3 draw against Sunderland Jetpatcher Over 40s at Silksworth on Saturday morning.

With a changed team due to injuries and other commitments, and playing on a hard and uneven pitch that threatened to disrupt Blyth’s usual passing game, the lads adapted well to the conditions.

What followed was a frantic, breathless first half that produced all six goals, with neither side able to take control.

Blyth got off to the perfect start when Kev G found the back of the net after just one minute. However, Sunderland Jetpatcher responded quickly, scoring in the 8th and 12th minutes to turn the game around.

The goal-fest continued when Danny levelled for Blyth in the 15th minute, only for the hosts to regain their advantage on 25 minutes.

Then, just before half-time, Danny struck again in the 37th minute to bring Blyth level once more and complete an unbelievable opening 45 minutes. ⚽⚽

HALF-TIME: Sunderland Jetpatcher 3–3 Blyth Town

The second half was a completely different story.

Blyth dominated possession and territory and looked increasingly likely to find the winning goal. Unfortunately, the game was overshadowed on 50 minutes when our midfield maestro Jamie Wallace suffered a serious injury, resulting in a lengthy stoppage.

With the disruption and concern surrounding Jamie, the game never quite regained its earlier rhythm and there were to be no further goals.

Blyth will perhaps feel they could have taken all three points after their second-half dominance and missed opportunities, but an away point keeps the unbeaten run going and gives us plenty to build on.

Most importantly, everyone at Blyth Town Over 40s and Sunderland Jetpatcher wishes Jamie a speedy recovery. 💚

A proper rollercoaster of a game — six goals in the first half and plenty to talk about afterwards!

A very good battling performance with a depleted squad today. Goals from Grahamslaw and Dawes X2

Speedy recovery for our midfield maestro Jamie Wallace who suffered a badly broken arm today, speedy recovery from all at Blyth Town FC and also from Sunderland Jetpatcher Patchers who were excellent today and helped with Jamie.
