Attention all Bedside Gun Club members!
We all know how much you love the sport of clay pigeon shooting, and we love that you’re keen to spread the addiction—I mean, enthusiasm—to friends and family! That’s why we’re happy for members to bring along non-certificate holders and complete novices to give the sport a try.
However, on busy days, a few first-timers can sometimes turn a smooth-running morning into a bit of a traffic jam. Nobody enjoys spending more time queueing than shooting, and we’d much rather everyone leaves with a smile and an empty cartridge bag.
So, if you’re planning to bring complete beginners to the ground, could you please have a quick word with a committee member first? We’ll do everything we can to help.
With a bit of notice, we can set up a novice-friendly stand where you and your guests can have some space to yourselves. That way, your mates can concentrate on breaking targets instead of wondering why the sporting course suddenly looks like an Olympic final!
If you’d prefer to tackle the sporting course with your guests, we’d recommend arriving a little later—around 12 noon. By then, most of our regulars have headed home, leaving plenty of room to enjoy a more relaxed pace without feeling like you’re holding up the next squad.
And let’s be honest—when you’re starting out, missing targets is much easier when there isn’t an audience! We’ve all been there, and nobody was born shooting 100 straights.
Thank you for helping us keep the club welcoming, enjoyable and running smoothly for everyone. We want newcomers to catch the clay bug and our regulars to keep enjoying their day—and with a little planning, everyone wins.
See you on the stands… and remember, the clays are supposed to be nervous, not the beginners! 🎯😁
