🎄 As 2025 comes to a close, we just want to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.

What a journey it’s been. The 2024/25 season will live long in the memory as Ashby were crowned Championship Champions, losing just one game all season, before going on to lift the League Cup as well, a historic club double. Not bad at all… and somewhere along the way the Dons managed to bottle both trophies.

The celebrations were deserved, the memories were unreal, and doing it all with a group of mates made it even more special. Moments like those are what football is all about.

We always knew stepping up into the Premiership for 2025/26 was going to be a tough challenge. While the league hasn’t been the easiest of starts, the lads are still loving playing together, showing real character, and putting in strong performances in the Millennium Trophy, with hopes that some more silverware isn’t too far away. With the depth this club has, we know we’re more than capable of competing with the very best.

A massive thank you to all our supporters, home and away, who turn up on Sunday mornings to back the lads. Seeing a crowd cheer us on week in, week out truly makes it all worth it, we couldn’t do it without you.

It’s been a great year for the club, and we’re all excited to see what 2026 has to bring. But for now, rivalries, beef and banter aside, we wish everyone nothing but the best and hope you all enjoy quality time with your loved ones over the festive period.

As always, UTFA💙

🏆 Ashby Athletic delivered a dominant display to secure a convincing 3-0 victory over Grendon Sapphires, claiming crucial 3 points and a well-deserved clean sheet.

Ashby were on the front foot from the opening whistle, controlling the game throughout. The breakthrough came courtesy of Cian, who finally grabbed his first goal of the season and it was well worth the wait. Brilliant work from Brad saw him take on several defenders before delivering the perfect assist, allowing Cian to produce a skilful flick that left the Grendon goalkeeper with no chance.

Ashby went into the break 1–0 up. The message at Half-Time was clear, put the game to bed or risk being punished.

The lads responded in the best possible way, continuing to apply pressure and soon doubling their advantage. Once again, Brad was heavily involved, delivering quality into the box where Lewis Canning rose highest to power home a header and make it 2–0.

Ashby wrapped up the points late on when Ellis won a penalty following some impressive play. Lewis Canning stepped up confidently and converted from the spot to cap off a strong Ashby performance.

Grendon Sapphires were limited throughout, with their only real opportunities coming from set pieces and nothing from open play. Ashby’s defence, including the goalkeeper, were outstanding, dealing comfortably with everything that came their way to secure the clean sheet.

It was an excellent all-round team display. The strikers worked relentlessly to trouble Grendon’s defence, the midfield controlled the game from start to finish by winning their battles, and the back line remained solid and organised throughout. 3 goals, 1 clean sheet, and 3 crucial points, a top performance from the Ashby boys.

And that’s a wrap for 2025. Another post will follow to summarise the year, but for now the team take a well-deserved break until the New Year, ending on a high with 3 points. 💙

🏆 Ashby delivered an absolute masterclass this weekend, cruising to a commanding 5–0 victory over AFC Spinney Reserves.

From the first whistle, it was all Ashby - total control, total composure, total dominance. The lads dictated the tempo from back to front, moving the ball, linking up in attack, and refusing to give Spinney even a glimpse of hope.

Ashby’s play was on another level. Early goals from Matt and Brad, followed by another from Matt, kept Spinney pinned in their own half until the break. Between Matt, Cian, and Brad, the trio combined for 3 goals and 4 assists, causing problems all morning.

In midfield, the engine room never stopped working. Winning every 50/50, controlling the rhythm, using the width of the pitch, and constantly driving play forward - it was a pleasure to watch.

At the back, Ashby’s defence barely put a foot wrong, calm under pressure, dominant in the air, and snuffing out the rare moments Spinney threatened. Pure solidity. What more could they have done?

After the break, Ellis made it 4–0, before Kamil sealed the win with a rocket header from a corner - game over.

Every goal was fully deserved.

The intensity never dipped, and even the subs made their mark, with Charlie grabbing an assist. The football stayed sharp, the energy stayed high, and the performance from front to back was nothing short of outstanding.

No game next week due to the annual Christmas do, so the lads will enjoy a well-deserved weekend off before facing Grendon Sapphires in the final match of 2025 on 21st December. 💙

Our socials have been a bit quiet this season, some might blame the challenges on the pitch, but truth is, the gaffer’s been slacking. Here’s a quick round-up of our last three Millennium Trophy fixtures.

Group Stage - Game 1
Sable Antelopes 2-0 Ashby
A tough day at the office as it simply wasn’t our day. An early disallowed goal due to a questionable flag felt like a real kick in the teeth, and the boys couldn’t capitalise afterwards. We soon found ourselves 1–0 down and chasing the game. Ashby threw everything forward, but a counterattack left us exposed and resulted in an unfortunate own goal. Not much more to say.

MOTM: Charlie Banks

Group Stage Game 2
GLK United 2-2 Ashby
An interesting game. It was all Ashby in the first half and we finally took the lead just before the break. A scrappy bounce in midfield from a long ball sent their striker through 1v1, and we went into Half-Time at 1–1. The game became scrappy, but Ashby were awarded a penalty which was superbly converted for 2–1. GLK then piled on the pressure and were also awarded a penalty, levelling the score at 2–2. Both teams ended with 10 men. A scrappy finish where Ashby couldn’t take their chances.

MOTM: Louis Haynes

Group Stage Game 3
JC Orchard Park 1-3 Ashby
Ashby dominated from the first minute, but for the third week running, struggled to capitalise. An injury reduced us to 10 men, but a brilliant team move put us 1–0 up. A sin bin shortly after left us down to 10 again, but we still made it 2–0 and looked in full control. JC pulled one back with the last kick of the half after some defensive miscommunication. Clear instructions were given at Half-Time, and the boys responded perfectly, dominating the entire second half and eventually adding a third to secure a well-deserved 3–1 win.

MOTM: Ellis Williamson

A slow start to the group stage, but four points from the last two matches have pushed us up the table and hopefully put us in a strong position to secure a spot in the knockout rounds.

Next up: Spinney Reserves in Group Stage Game 4.

🏆 Everyone’s worst nightmare, 9 available for North Star away…. That was the reality of our Saturday night.

Luckily we got a full 11 by kick off, which included 3 injured players.

We started well, moving the ball and trying to link some passes together. North Star started slower than expected and we grew in confidence. Arguably we had the better chances First-Half, with our defence keeping the Northstars’s attackers somewhat quiet. All square at Half-Time.

Another half like that and an upset could have been on the cards. But not long after kick off, North Star played a great ball over the top to the winger, who finished lovely to make it 1-0.

They upped the pressure Second-Half, and with tired legs and no subs we got pinned back. North Star had a couple of chances but we managed to keep them out. We had half a chance here and there to equalise the game but couldn’t capitalise on anything. Game ended 1-0 to Northstar.

Credit to the 11 who battled to the end. North Star are a great side and we competed well, especially in the First-Half.

Another performance to build on as we take a break from the League and focus on progression in the Cup.
