🎾 Exciting News from Blewbury Tennis Club! 🎾

We’re absolutely delighted to announce that our long-awaited court resurfacing project is finally underway!

A huge thank you goes to FCC Communities Foundation for their incredible support and generous contribution of £29,400. Thanks to them, we’ll have two brand new tennis courts ready by the end of summer 2026!

To celebrate, we’ll be inviting the whole village to join us for a special opening ceremony 🎉 Keep an eye out for more details on dates and events coming soon!

We can’t wait to welcome you all back on court!

At the Tennis Oxfordshire AGM tonight, Blewbury TC picked up 2 awards.

Well done Mens A for winning Division 1 in the Winter 2024/25 season and to the Mens C for winning Division 12 in the Summer 2025 season 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Not one but two Christmas Fun tournaments this year! All in the same week. Both full of fun games, Xmas jumpers, Mulled Wine and plenty of food. Many thanks to Bradley Hammond for organising them both and making a great couple of days 😀🎾🍷🧁🥪

Blewbury Tennis Club held their Annual Tournament Finals day yesterday. It was a great day with some fantastic and exciting matches. The results were:

Mens Singles
Winner: Bradley Hammond, Runner Up: Daniel Gifford

Ladies Singles
Winner: Germana Sallemi, Runner Up: Ruxy Moraru

Mens Overs:
Winner: Ed Blomford, Runner Up: Mike Morrell

Ladies Overs:
Winner: Neo Cartouche, Runner Up: Deirdre Cochraine

Mens Doubles:
Winners: Bradley Hammond & Daniel Gifford, Runners Up: Ed Blomford & Sean Smythe

Ladies Doubles:
Winners: Ruxy Moraru & Allison Rhodes, Runners Up: Germana Sallemi & Jane Andrews

Mixed Doubles:
Winners: Bradley Hammond & Allison Rhodes, Runners Up: Daniel Gifford & Germana Sallemi

Well done to all the Finalists and thank you to those that came to watch and join in. It is great to come together and have such an enjoyable day.

Thank you also to those that brought food and drink for a great BBQ afterwards.

Lastly thanks to Martin Wrench for organising the whole tournament starting right back last March. It's great for the club to have a fun but competitive tournament that lasts half the year.

Our Coach Tollef is running an open day/meet the coach day on Sunday 8th December from 9am-12:30pm up at the club. It would be great to see people bring people down to it as there will be a few different parts to the morning. To sign up: https://blewburytennis.co.uk/Events

Juniors taster sessions
The start of the morning we will have taster sessions for junior coaching. If you are part of group coaching already and bring someone down and they sign up for coaching you both receive £20 through our “Refer a friend” programme.

Cardio and match/doubles practise
The last two sessions of the day will be an intro to cardio tennis and a match/doubles practise for players to come and try these out.

Cardio tennis is a music based energetic tennis session with lots of movement and hitting for any standard of tennis and you can put however much effort you want into it.

Match/doubles practise will be doubles scenarios and tips given out to help you improve your doubles game.

It will be great to see people down at these sessions in the hopes of potentially putting these sessions on regularly in the new year.

Fastest serve competition
The final part of the morning running on one court will be a fastest serve competition.

Test how fast you can serve (Has to be in) with prizes on offer and all money raised going to support the local charity Styleacre.

Even if you’re not taking part in the open day you can come down and test how fast you serve, potentially win a prize and support Styleacre.

It will be great to see as many people down on the day as possible and if you can send it out to anyone you know who would be interested that would be amazing.

Well done everyone who took part in the Annual Fun tournament yesterday evening. As usual it was done in a Round Robin format which makes if even for all players. It was great fun despite the rain and a very enjoyable BBQ afterwards.

The 2024 Club Tournament took place yesterday and was great fun as always 😀 Congratulations to everyone who played in the finals. After a great afternoon’s tennis (including a thrilling 3 set Ladies Doubles final) there was plenty of Tea, Cake and Sausage Rolls. The Awards were handed out at The Red Lion Blewburywith some Mexican food and live Music. And even after that there was highly entertaining Cornball competition 😀 A huge thank you to Martin Wrench for organising the whole tournament right from the beginning of the year and right up to yesterday. The results were:

Last night was the Tennis Oxfordshire awards night at the Voco Oxford Spires hotel. It was a great event and nice to see members from other clubs. The guest speaker was Davis Cup winner Dom Ingot who also presented the awards. Well done to the Blewbury league winners, Mens A, Ladies B, Ladies C and Mixed C. All followed by some dancing 🕺💃

Yesterday was the Winter Charity tournament to raise money for Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

It was a huge success, with 2 teams - Brian's Bulldogs & Sue's Superstars - battling it out with various games (including 9-a-side tennis), the eventual Winners being the Bulldogs.

There was a raffle, a BBQ and the general theme was to wear red, which resulted, in some cases, with dyed red hair and beards!

The total raised was an excellent £2752.25.

Many thanks to Bradley Hammond for organising such a fun tournament and Lisa Lovett for her help too.

Thanks also to all those that came to join in and raise money for a great cause.
