☀️ FIT MUMMY MK HEATWAVE STRETCH BREAK ☀️

With classes temporarily cancelled during this hot weather, I still wanted to give you something simple you can do at home to keep your body moving and feeling good.

This gentle stretching routine takes just 10–15 minutes and is designed to help you:

💗 Ease aches and stiffness
💗 Release tension in your neck, shoulders and back
💗 Improve mobility and flexibility
💗 Reduce stress and boost your mood
💗 Take a few minutes for yourself (which every mum deserves!)

Remember, exercise doesn’t always have to be intense. Sometimes the most beneficial thing you can do is slow down, move gently and listen to your body.

🌡️ A few heatwave reminders:
💧 Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
🧊 Keep a cold or frozen bottle of water nearby
👕 Wear light, breathable clothing
🏠 Stretch in a cool room if possible
🫶 Stop immediately if you feel dizzy, lightheaded or unwell

Whether your little one gives you 15 uninterrupted minutes or you’re squeezing stretches in between snacks, nappies and cuddles, every little bit counts.

One of the best things about a postnatal fitness class isn’t just the exercise… it’s the conversations.

Where else can you go and have a completely normal discussion about post-partum hair loss, pelvic floor mishaps, nasal aspirators, sleep deprivation and whether your baby has decided that 2am is now party time? 😂

Every week in class, alongside the squats, lunges and strength work, you’ll hear conversations about:

✨ Abdominal separation (diastasis recti)
✨ The reality of post-partum hair loss

The truth is that becoming a mum comes with a whole set of challenges that many people outside of the post-partum world simply don’t understand.

That’s why attending a post-partum specific fitness class can be so valuable.

Yes, you’ll improve your strength, fitness and confidence.

But you’ll also be surrounded by other mums who are navigating the same stage of life. Mums who understand why you’re tired. Mums who won’t bat an eyelid if you need to stop and feed your baby. There’s something incredibly powerful about exercising in a room where nobody expects perfection.

😡”As if there isn’t enough pressure on women already without introducing post-partum exercise classes.” 😡

I recently saw this comment online, and whilst I understand where it comes from, I think it completely misses the point of what post-partum exercise classes are actually about.

At Fit Mummy, helping mums lose body fat or “snap back” is probably one of the last reasons I want someone to come to class.

Your body has just grown and delivered a whole human being. That’s incredible.

The reason I believe so strongly in post-partum exercise is because of the countless other benefits it can bring to new mums:

❤️ Improved mental health and reduced feelings of anxiety and overwhelm

❤️ A chance to do something for yourself during a stage of life where everyone else’s needs often come first

❤️ Increased energy levels to cope with the demands of motherhood

❤️ Improved strength for all the lifting, carrying, feeding and rocking that comes with a baby

❤️ Better posture and reduced aches and pains from feeding, holding and carrying little ones

❤️ Improved pelvic floor function when exercises are selected and progressed appropriately

❤️ Increased confidence in what your body can do, rather than focusing on how it looks

❤️ Social connection and friendship with other mums who are going through similar experiences

❤️ Reduced feelings of isolation, which many new mums experience

❤️ Better sleep quality (as much as possible when you have a baby!)

✨ Another brilliant morning at Fit Mummy MK! ✨

One of the things we love most about our sessions is that no two classes ever look the same.

While the mums are lifting, squatting, pulling, pushing and building strength, the little ones are busy doing their own thing too. Some play happily with the toys, some make new friends, some watch from the sidelines, and some decide they’d quite like to join in with the workout! 💪👶

There’s no need to worry about childcare, no pressure if your little one needs a cuddle, feed or nappy change, and no expectations for them to sit still in a buggy. Our classes are designed to work around real life with babies and children.

Because fitness after having a baby shouldn’t mean choosing between looking after yourself and looking after your little one ❤️

Every week we’re reminded what a special community this is, full of supportive mums, happy children and plenty of laughter alongside the workouts.

The idea for Fit Mummy started when Freya was just a baby. I used to take her with me to the gym so I could squeeze in a workout when no one else was around. Before long, friends started asking if they could join us.

As I looked into it more, I realised there were very few options for mums who wanted to exercise after having a baby without needing childcare, or expecting their little one to stay happily in a pram for an hour (something Freya would never have done! 😂).

So I decided to do something about it. I gained my pre and postnatal qualifications and started creating the kind of classes I wished had existed when I was a new mum.

Fast forward nearly 9 years, and we have welcomed hundreds of mums through our doors. We’ve celebrated first workouts, first friendships, growing confidence, stronger bodies, and watched so many babies grow up alongside us.

This Saturday, Freya turns 9. 💕 Along with her little sister Addy, she continues to be my motivation, inspiration, biggest supporter, and occasionally my greatest source of exasperation too! 😆

But none of this would exist without her.

She was the reason it all began, and every mum and little one who has joined us since has become part of the story.

One of the biggest barriers to exercise after having a baby is finding childcare. That’s why at Fit Mummy, your little ones come with you. Whether they’re happily playing on the mats, watching from the sidelines, feeding, sleeping, or deciding that today they’re your personal trainer, they’re always welcome.

While the babies play, crawl, giggle and make friends, the mums get the chance to focus on themselves for an hour, building strength, confidence and fitness in a supportive environment full of people who understand exactly what this stage of life looks like.

As we approach 8 years of helping mums find their way back to fitness after having a baby, I’ve been looking back through old photos and came across this one…

This is the very first photo I ever took of a Fit Mummy MK class.

Since then, we’ve welcomed hundreds of mums and babies through our doors. Tiny newborns who are now school children. Babies who took their first steps in class. Friendships that started on our gym floor and continue years later. Countless milestones, laughs, chats, tears, achievements and memories.

What started as a simple idea to provide a safe, supportive place for mums to exercise with their little ones by their side has grown into something so much bigger than fitness.

It has been an absolute honour and privilege to meet and support so many incredible women through pregnancy, postpartum recovery and beyond. To be trusted during such a significant chapter of life is something I never take for granted.

Fit Mummy MK has always been about more than workouts. It’s about giving mums permission to prioritise themselves for an hour, without needing childcare, without judgement, and without having to choose between looking after themselves and being with their baby.

To every mum who has attended a class, every baby who has joined us on the gym floor, and every family who has supported what we do—thank you. You have all played a part in making Fit Mummy MK what it is today.

Here’s to 8 amazing years, and to many more mums discovering that they matter too. ❤️
