Just a quick reminder to all members that as our coach, Gareth, is away for the next two weeks, we will instead have Steve Goodlad with us covering our swim sessions.

Steve is a British Triathlon Level 2 qualified coach and is the lead swim coach for Leighton Buzzard Tri Club and also coaches swimmers at Leighton Buzzard Swim Club.

Please could everyone arrive for 6.45 for the next two weeks so that we can be ready to go poolside at 7pm to get the most out of these sessions.

No need for bikes for the next two weeks as our session on the field will be running based.

I'm afraid insurance issues due to our lead coach being unavailable mean that we won't be able to host trial sessions while Gareth is away but we look forward to having some new athletes try us out on the 16th.

Don't forget that our Thursday training sessions aren't the only opportunity to get some running practice in. Quite a few of our members attend and enjoy Milton Keynes junior parkrun too.

At 2 kilometers, it's a perfect distance for young runners, it's all inclusive - if you can't run it all then walking, skipping and bouncing are all allowed (all they ask is that children complete it under their own steam - no cycling, scooting or being carried), it's a great introduction to a race-style environment and it's FREE!

You can sign up at www.parkrun.org.uk. Just register, download and print your barcode and turn up at 9am on any Sunday to join in. Our closest event is Milton Keynes at the Emerson Valley Rugby Club but there are lots of other junior parkruns nearby.

junior parkrun is aimed at 4-14 year olds. Older children (and parents) are welcomed at 5k parkrun events held on Saturdays.

parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

With the summer holidays upon us I'm sure lots of parents are looking for fun and inexpensive ways to keep their children entertained. Why not come and give Phoenix Tri MK a go?

Your first session is free!

We're a children's triathlon club aimed at kids between the ages of 8 and 14. We're open every Thursday throughout the holidays between 7pm and 9pm at Leon School in Bletchley.

Between 7pm and 8pm we will be in the pool practising our swimming technique and from 8pm until 9pm we'll be on the sports fields improving our running and possibly having a go on our bikes.

Just bring along a swimming costume, a towel, shorts, a t-shirt, your trainers and a bike if you can, plus a drink of water and we'll show you just how much fun triathlons can be.

The holidays are here!!

Training sessions will carry on as normal throughout the holidays with just one, minor change. Times will stay the same and we will run from 7pm until 9pm as usual but for the next 6 weeks, we will be having the swim session first.

So from next Thursday (July 26th) we'll be swimming from 7pm until 8pm and then out on the field from 8pm until 9pm for our running and cycling sessions.

All goes back to normal in September but we thought this shake up might be fun and allow some of our members to make more of our swimming training.

Eerily quiet on the pitches next to us tonight.
Very strange.
The kids had fun chasing bubbles and having water fights. Shame is wasn’t anywhere near as hot as we expected. But that’s okay, it meant they had more energy for a longer and more challenging pool session

It is going to be hot Hot HOT tonight!
Does that we don't train?
Of course not.
But tonight will be more play based, with balancing and slow racing combined with water fights and bubbles galore.
Most importantly it will be fun

What a fantastic start to the after school triathlon club at Priory Rose School tonight.
The kids were awesome and really enjoyed themselves despite the freezing wet weather.
It was a bit too wet to push the speed on cornering, so we will mess about more on the bikes next week.
