🌟 The Weekend Ahead 🌟

After the ladies SIBA Singles playdowns a fortnight ago, this weekend is the turn of the gents. Margaret and Caroline have certainly set the bar high for the gents, with both ladies booking their place in the quarter final due to be played on the weekend of the 24th, 25th and 26th of November.
Scott Allardyce starts his campaign at 11.30am with a tough opener against against Craig McDonald of Elgin.
Iain McLean opens up at 1.30pm against Callum Goffin of Cowal. If both guys are successful they’ll be back at Abbeyview on Sunday.
All the best to both gents, no pressure after the ladies results from Coatbridge!
After a tough start to the season with 1 win from their first 3 games, the senior team have a difficult trip to face league leaders Auchinleck.
All the best to everyone representing the club over the weekend.
If you’re free and fancy watching some quality bowls I’m sure the seniors or gents would love the support.

🌟 The Weekend Ahead 🌟

It looks to be a busy weekend for the club with the start of the SIBA national competitions along with the gents and senior leagues.
Margaret Letham and Caroline Brown both take to the Coatbridge IBC carpet hoping to continue their national form from last season which saw them finish as the top two ranked players in the country. Caroline will face Dundee B at 11.30am with Margaret kicking off at 1.30pm against Turriff.
Sunday sees the start of the gents under 25 singles competition. Robbie MacDonald & Mitchell Anderson will represent us at Inverclyde IBC. Mitchell has a tough draw, playing Inverclyde A on their own carpet at 10am, while Robbie opens up with a 12noon start against West of Scotland A.
After an excellent opening round win at home to Glasgow, the senior team will take the short journey down the M8 to Paisley this morning. Missing Margaret from last weeks team will be a blow but we wish them all the best.
Finally, the gents team are at home this afternoon against section B leaders, Ardrossan.
Sure to be another close game in what is a very tough section.
All the best to everyone representing the club this weekend. If you’re free and want to take in some quality bowls, why not come and cheer the teams on.

It was a good start, to what we hope is a busy weekend for the club, at the last finals weekend of the SIBA calendar being held at East Kilbride IBC.
The ladies triples team of Christine McLellan, Margaret Letham & Caroline Brown had an excellent win over Turriff and have secured their place in tomorrow’s final at 9.30am.
This afternoon’s session has two teams from the club take to the green at 2pm. Caroline & Margaret will be hoping to keep the form going as they take on the Ewing sisters from Headwell.
The gents fours team had a late change with Alex Kelly having to withdraw due to a back injury. The team of Scott McInall, John Strachan, Brian Irvine & Iain McLean will face Arbroath & District IBC who are skipped by Darren Burnett.

All the best to all players for the rest of the weekend. C’mon the ‘Tyre!!

50 Not Out*
Congratulations to Caroline Brown as she’s reached 50 caps for Scotland this week.
Another fantastic achievement for one of the best in the country. In doing so, she becomes the second lady from Blantyre to reach the milestone, following Margaret Letham.
Both ladies are in action this afternoon at Abbeyview IBC. It’s a winner take all game against England with Scotland off to a flyer, 24-10 to the good, with our ladies leading the way with their rinks 6-0 and 8-1 up.

So far so good...🤞

It has been good news so far this week for the club.
The senior team made the final of the league with a hard fought win over Auchinleck on Wednesday. They now face Aberdeen in the final on the 29th of March.
The good results followed this weekend with Robert Murphy and a Margaret Letham securing their places in the gents and ladies senior singles comps, both of which are now underway.
Updates to follow in the comments but at the moment Robert us 5-7 down and Margaret is 5-6 down.

This Weeks Activity

Some big games lie ahead for the club in the coming week.
On Wednesday, the senior team are back in league action as they take on familiar foes Auchinleck in the semi finals. Both teams travel east to Abbeyview IBC for a 12noon showdown, in what should be a fantastic game.
This weekend sees the second national finals weekend of the season take place, this time at Arbroath & District IBC.
We are fortunate to have representation in two events with Margaret Letham & Robert Murphy through in their respective singles competitions. Margaret will be hoping to add a new title to her fantastic resume while Robert bids to defend his title won at Stirling last season and become the first gent to win it twice!
Details of all three competitions are on the images and we would encourage all those who can, to get along and support the players.
C’mon the Blantyre!!
