Blantyre Soccer Academy 2015 Golds are over the moon with their new kits as we head into 9aside football. Proudly sponsored again by WLS Manufacturing Ltd in Hamilton. Ross and the rest of the staff at WLS were fantastic putting their logo on our last kits, and were straight in again when we needed new ones this time. So if any of our supporters are looking for kitchens or bedroom furniture, be sure to go and have a look at what they have to offer. (Oh, and we might know a coach that fits them as well. 😁)
The boys all looked great in their new gear, and can’t wait to wear them for the coming season.

Working in partnership with Network rail Scotland and Sfa South West Region to deliver education through football.

This week, we recapped on the important points that we learnt through the sessions.
1 Trains take 2000m to come to a stop.
2 Electricity from the power lines can jump over 3m.
3 Fines of up to £1000 and a criminal record can be punishment for trespassing on lines.
4 Overhead lines carry 25000volts, and are never switched off.
5 Stay off the tracks.

This week, we learned that you can receive a hefty fine for trespassing on the railways. And that it’s much cheaper to buy a new football, than risk it.

This week, we learned that electricity can jump 3metres from lines. That’s more than the height of the crossbar on full size goals. (Which most of our boys can’t reach yet).

This week we learned that overhead powerlines are never switched off.

Overhead powerlines carry
25000 volts and are never switched off. Thats 100 times more greater than the power in your house.

As the team prepares to enter its last season of 7 aside football, we’re looking ahead to what will be another great year of football and friendship for the boys. As with everything in the world, nothing comes for free, and running a football team is certainly not cheap. To help us keep going throughout the year, we’re looking to raise some much needed funds. First offering for this is a Rangers top, signed by Ibrox legend, Graeme Souness. Comes with certificate of authenticity and a picture of the great man himself, signing it. We’re running this as a bonus ball competition, no’s 1-59, and the draw will be done using the first Saturday National Lotto draw after all numbers are taken. No’s are priced at £8 for one number, £15 for two numbers, and £20 for 3 numbers.
