If so, you may have witnessed a scene that entirely shattered the peace and tranquillity of your pre-breakfast amble. It was the disturbing spectacle of a woman with sand in her face and no right whatsoever to be wearing Lycra in public, being dragged at an ungainly speed through the sand by two fou

r-legged blur of fur attached to the end of a line of bungee cord. That was me. And can I just say to the man with the walking stick who was enjoying his leisurely stroll: I'm sorry you got caught in my path. It's just — I couldn't stop. Blame my dog. Welcome to the barking mad fitness craze of canine cross-country running. Spelled CaniX and pronounced 'cani-cross', this sport, already hugely popular in the U.S. and Europe, is fast gaining popularity in Britain. Think 'walkies' with attitude!! The idea is that rather than taking your dog for a walk, you strap a harness around yourself and he or she takes you. Or, in my case, pulls you at an uncontrollable speed in whatever direction it chooses to go.
