Around this time last week I had the absolute pleasure of awarding many of my student's their new grades.
It was a pretty tough grading for everyone, and especially the higher grade student's.
Even harder for the 4 student's who were were attempting their 1st Dan black belts.
Needless to say, as usual, they all dug deep and used every ounce of their energy to achieve their grades.
I am so proud of all the student's, and it was a fantastic feeling to be able to say 'you have passed your 1st Dan black belt' to Dave, Alvina, Edwin and Grace.
I was really hoping to be able to get a photo presenting them all with their black belts, but unfortunately, Alvina, and Edwin had to shoot off straight away to get back to Uni.

Huge respect to their parents for allowing them both to take their grading, knowing that they would then have to drive them straight back to their Universities. Especially Alvina's parents who probably had a 3 to 4 hour journey back to Cardiff.
When they both return to training during their Uni breaks I will definitely get some pictures.

In the meantime, here is a photo of the other 2 showing their certificates, and new belts. I'm sure they won't mind me saying this because they seem quite proud of the fact that Grace is the youngest ever to achieve a Black belt in our club, and Dave is the oldest to receive a Black belt with us.

Maybe I shouldn't be saying this, and I hope it doesn't tempt fate, but every time I get towards the end of a year, I wonder if maybe this will be my last year of teaching. However, I get so inspired by all of my student's, and the effort they put in, that I know it will take something quite drastic to force me to give it all up. Hopefully, that time will not come for many more years, and I look forward to continuing to work with all my student's over the coming years.

Had a fantastic result from my students on Sunday.
It was a long heavy grading session for some of them, but they pulled out all the stops and did a great job. Biggest bonus was that none of them passed out.
All of the students achieved their grades at varying degrees on the pass scale, but I was generally very impressed.
4 of the students were attempting their first Dan black belts, and I'm really chuffed to say that they all passed too.
Well done to everyone, and especially to Edwin, Alvina, Dave, and Grace.
Dave was pleased to recognise the fact that he is the oldest student to pass his black belt in our club, and Grace was just as happy to know that she is the youngest to pass black belt in the club.
Excellent result all round, and I hope to post some photos shortly.

I hope you are all looking forward to the summer holidays, and fingers crossed, you will have some lovely weather wherever you are going. Please remember, Karate lessons will continue to be available on Wednesdays, at the Skinner Street club in Poole & Thursdays at the Blandford Gymnastics club throughout the School holidays. The only club that will be closed for the whole of August is the Hillbourne Community Centre, which will re-open on Tuesday 3rd September. Enjoy your Summer holiday, and stay safe!!

Quite a hot training session last night, but these students were still happy to practice through some of their basic stances at the end of the hour session. A great effort from you all!

It's going to be a really hot training session this evening at Skinner Street in Poole, so please make sure you bring a cold drink with you, and don't worry, we won't be spontaneously combusting. I will keep the session light and enjoyable, and there will be plenty of drink breaks!

Looks like it's going to be a hot week, so can I remind all students to make sure you bring a water bottle with you to training. It's absolutely essential that you keep hydrated!!

I hope everyone had a lovely half term last week, and luckily the weather was quite kind for you. I would also like to say good luck to all the children taking exams at school this week. Hopefully, We will see you all back training at one of the clubs in Poole or Blandford. If any new students would like to join us, we train at Hillbourne Community Centre on Waterloo Estate, Poole. Tuesday's from 5.30pm to 6.30pm: Skinner Street United Reformed Church, Poole On Wednesday's from 6pm to 7pm:, and Blandford Gymnastics Club on Thursday's from 7.45pm to 8.45pm. All new students will get the first trial session free, so why not come along and give it a try, you could be pleasantly surprised, and wonder why you haven't tried it before. Such a proud moment at our Blandford class on Thursday evening.
I had the absolute pleasure of presenting Jayce Emmanuel with his 1st Dan Black Belt.
Jayce has been training with me for around 7 years, and has always shown true commitment and dedication at every lesson. He has worked extremely hard throughout his Karate journey, and I hope that he will now realise his journey has only just begun. Well done Jayce, and congratulations
on your achievement!!

Bob Lewis went missing early afternoon yesterday. This is the latest image from a house camera in Tredegar, Wales 14:50 13/02/23.
Can we please ask everyone in the Tredegar and surrounding areas to check thier CCTV, Doorbell cameras, and dashcams. It could provide crucial information about his location or the direction he took. We desprately need to find him as soon as possible and get him back home with his wife and family. Thank you
