Ardal Southern League
Final Score
Goytre 0-0
For the second week in a row the Blues have collected a point from a goalless draw on the road, and as last week at Abercarn it was a hugely entertaining goalless draw.
The Blues almost nicked all three points in added time when good work down the right hand side saw skipper Burton take on a first time shot, but Riella in the Goytre goal made a super save low down.
The home side dominated possession through the opening 30 minutes but found the Blues an equal to them. As we moved towards half time the Blues pressed further forward with Watts, Burns and Probert causing the home defence problems.
The second half was similar to the first in that the home side dominated the possession for large periods of the half but the Blues rearguard of Mayo, Bull, Tanner and Caddick held firm and when Mayo was replaced by Blatchford the youngster didn't put a foot wrong.
As time was ticking away the Blues looked likely to catch their hosts on the break Nathan Watts found himself with a couple of half chances that tested the keeper.
A share of the points, for the Blues from their fifth consecutive away game and a clean sheet for the third game running.
Some top performances throughout the team for the Blues, Burns gave his marker a battle for 70 minutes before the home side replaced him, Watts produced an excellent display down the left, Alex Bull in the centre of defence was excellent but Player of the match goes to Craig Tanner, who didn't miss a header or tackle all evening, in the 91st minute his desire to win a challenge on the edge of the box was a great reflection of the Blues all game.
Next up is away game number six next Saturday at Undy!
