After our early exit from the Carruthers Shield, we hastily arranged a friendly game against Forgeside RFC Sports and Social Club .
We'd like to thank Forgeside for their excellent company both on and off the green. We had a great afternoon and evening and judging from the comments, so did the rugby lads. They took to the game well and also came away with a win on one of the rinks. We hope you enjoyed the day enough to repeat this fixture in the future.
Huge thanks to Patrick Smith our catering manager, for putting on a great spread after the game, enjoyed by all players. Great day all round 💚💛🖤🧡

Last night we travelled down the valley to play Panteg Park Bowls Club in an Eastern Valley League game.
We started well and after 6 ends we were up on 3 rinks and led overall by 6. Despite some great bowls from the Park, we hit a purple patch during the middle part of the game and after 12 ends we had increased our lead to 20 whilst still leading on 3 rinks.
In the final third of the game, Panteg Park showed their improvement and battling qualities as they kept us in check as we tried to improve our shot difference. We eventually won by 18 shots and picked up 12 of the 14 points on offer.

Our hosts have made great strides in recent years and appear to be a club on an upward curve which is a great reflection on the dedication of their members. We wish them well for the rest of the season, both on and off the green. Well done to our lads, we need to take this form into our County league games if we are to trouble those at the top end of the table 💚💛

Last Wednesday we welcomed Panteg House Bowls Club to The Rec for an Eastern Valley League game.
We started the game marginally the better as after 6 ends we led on 3 rinks, but with our guys on rink 2 struggling to get into the game we only held an overall lead of 2 shots. The second third of the game saw the House adapting to the green and take a 12 shot lead.
We battled hard over the final 6 ends, but it was all that we could do to limit the damage from Panteg's dominance and so lost by 13 shots with only one successful rink. The game was played in a great spirit with friendly banter flowing across the green. Well done to Panteg House on a fine win and we wish you well for the rest of the season.
