Match Summary - Crumlin U13s v Blackwood U13s

A game of two halves! - Another frustrating close game that went the way of the opposition.

Putting Crumlin into bat first, Blackwood kept it tight with excellent bowling and fielding. Restricting Crumlin to 74/4 off 20 overs. Coach Owen said 'Evan ‘Buckets’ and Satya celebrated a wicket each. Oli delivered his weekly hostility and skill to rattle the stumps in leading from the front. Great accuracy from Andrei ‘Eagle’, who was super tight in cutting down singles in the ring. Isaac was great with the gloves! On top at half time.'

However, Blackwood were their own worst enemy with the bat, regularly gifting the opposition cheap wickets. However, credit to Crumlin for their fielding and forcing the run outs. Standout performance from Isaac showing patience and steadying the ship coming in at number 5 and scoring a career high 23.

Coach Owen summed it up with 'Lots of positives and some bumps in the road to learn from. Bat on ball, communication when running and back each other up, without fail. Practice technique and repeat. Dust ourselves down and move onwards and upwards!'

Match Summary – Blackwood U11s vs Malpas

A competitive and encouraging performance from the Blackwood U11s, featuring several debuts and only the second start for others. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Blackwood posted a solid 70 for 6 from their 16 overs.

Malpas replied strongly, finishing on 81 for 2 from their 16 overs. With both teams fielding nine players, the final batting pair’s runs did not count toward the final score.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives for Blackwood to take forward:

• Jake Morgan top‑scored with an impressive innings, including four boundaries.
• Imogen Gilson‑Bailey made a confident debut, taking a wicket.
• Archie Hicks added to the tally with a well‑earned wicket.
• Billy Gordon and Sam Dix both struck boundaries, showing attacking intent.
• Niamh Gordon, Sophie Thomas and Lottie Selway delivered strong, all‑round contributions.
• Will Davies bowled with outstanding accuracy, conceding just 9 runs from 4 overs, and was unlucky not to claim a wicket.
• Sam Dix, also on debut, impressed as wicket‑keeper and came close to taking a wicket with the ball.

A promising performance full of energy, development, and individual highlights — plenty to build on for the matches ahead.
