2/5/22 - 8/5/22 is Deaf Awareness Week in the UK and this is a great opportunity to acknowledge those who are part of the approximately 11 million people in the UK who are deaf or hard of hearing.
I have always been inspired by children, young people and adults who refuse to be restricted by being deaf and I'm so privileged to be part of a Club here at Blackwood RFC who are inclusive and encourage everyone to share in the fun and challenge of rugby all through the age ranges.
We're so thrilled to have Chloe Evens at the Club who represented our Blackwood RFC Ladies Team yesterday (1/5/22) at the Principality Stadium. She's been affected by hearing loss since a child. It was so great to see her run out onto the hallowed turf.
We also have Dan Vella and Dan Tucker who play for Blackwood RFC Senior Men's Team. Both have represented Wales Deaf Rugby and refuse to let any type of deafness stop them!
All three of our players are inspirations and are living proof to us all that despite challenges, we can set goals in our lives and have fun trying to hit them. (Glenn Symons - Club Chaplain)
