Blackpool Scorpions U12s vs. Halton Farnworth Hornets ARLFC Blacks U12s

It was a brisk and windy day down at Common Edge as the Blackpool Scorpions welcomed the Halton Farnworth Hornets Blacks for a highly anticipated match. Despite the final scoreline of 4–36, the match was a testament to the character, grit, and rapid development of our U12 squad.

Facing a challenging division this season, the Scorpions demonstrated exceptional teamwork and unwavering determination. The match was a hard fought contest, with our players putting in significant work on both ends of the pitch. Our defensive line held firm under pressure, and the attacking phases showed real promise as the squad continues to gel.
While the visitors ultimately came away with the win, the true highlight was the "never say die" attitude of the Scorpions. The players kept digging in until the final whistle, making it a thrilling game to watch from the sidelines. Every week, the improvements in their play are becoming more evident, and every single player should be incredibly proud of their performance today.

A massive well done to both Raife and Teddy, who made their debut for the team today!
It was a special day for Raife, who marked his debut match by scoring his first try for the Scorpions.
While Casper put in a great effort as our kicker, the exceptionally high winds proved to be a tough opponent, making the conversion incredibly difficult to convert.

What a great opportunity for our Junior section thank you Joe Bullock for coming down 💙. We are not just the biggest rugby league club in and around Blackpool and Blackpools club of the year for the last 2 years and reigning Lancashire club of the year for nothing. Our club is built on putting kids and families first and this reflects when a player that has made it at the highest level and still comes down and wants to give back to the club that he played for through all his junior career 👏

Blackpool Scorpions U12s 14 – 26 Cadishead Rhinos Community Rugby League Club U12s

The Scorps welcomed the Rhinos down at Common edge the home of rugby league in Blackpool today for an entertaining and hard fought game of rugby league.

The visitors started strongly and put the Scorpions under immediate pressure. Cadishead opened the scoring and raced into an early lead, leaving Blackpool trailing 20-0 after just 12 minutes.

However, the Scorpions showed tremendous character and determination to fight their way back into the contest. Their efforts were rewarded when Jude crossed for a well deserved try, giving the team a much needed boost. Casper then scored the conversion, making the half time score 20-6.

The boys had a swift team talk and came out fighting in the second half. Despite an amazing, potential tackle of the season from Billy, Casdishead scored again 2 mins into the second half. Jude soon added another, before Casper got a third, on the back of some outstanding teamwork.

Those scores lifted the team's morale and sparked a superb response. The Scorpions began communicating better, tackling with greater intensity, running hard, completing their sets, and moving the ball effectively. Every player gave their all and contributed to an outstanding team performance.

Coach Terry was delighted with the attitude and application shown by every member of the squad.

“Everyone put in above 100% today. Another 10 minutes and we could have got a result."

Despite the spirited comeback, the final whistle came with the score at 26-14 in favour of Cadishead Rhinos.

The performance was made even more impressive when compared to the previous meeting between the sides, when the Scorpions travelled to Cadishead and suffered a 52-0 defeat. Today's display showed just how much the players are learning and developing through their hard work in training.

The coaches and parents were immensely proud of the team's efforts, with every player playing their part in a fantastic team performance. Coach Terry said that if he could have handed out an award to every player, he would have done. However, the award winners were:

Opposition Player Award: Thomas
Coaches Player Award: Billy (although the coaches felt everyone deserved recognition)
Parents Player Award: Jude

A special thank you goes to Tom, George and Roxie for their help today, as well as all the parents for their continued support throughout the season. Thanks also to the coaches and parent representatives who generously volunteer their time week in and week out to make days like this possible.

Well done, Scorpions a fantastic comeback and another big step forward for the team!

Full Time: Rochdale Mayfield 10 - 6 Blackpool Scorpions U16s

A tough one to take today, but we couldn’t be prouder of the shift the lads put in.

🦂Despite the result, every single player gave their absolute best, and that’s all we ever ask for. A few too many errors meant we spent a lot of time on the back foot, but our try-line defense was immense under constant pressure.

After falling behind to a close-range score and another against the run of play, the boys showed real character to fight back.

Reggie crossed the whitewash in the corner with Ashley adding the extras, but unfortunately, we just ran out of time.We came up slightly short today, but the effort was 100%.

A massive thank you to everyone who travelled to support the boys! 🙌

🔵🦂Scorpions U14s Match Report 🦂🔵

A brilliant 24–16 away win for the 🔵 Scorpions at Wigan St Jude’s today in what was a proper hard-fought contest 💪

With two new recruits and a couple of lads returning from injury, there were a few early nerves — but the boys quickly settled into the game. The opening stages were tight, with both sides going set for set and neither able to break the deadlock.

After conceding a few repeat sets, Jude’s eventually opened the scoring, but the response from the lads was spot on. Some slick play down the left saw CJ cross, and he calmly added the extras to level things up. Not long after, a great break from Charlie saw him go over under the sticks to give us a 12–6 lead.

A controversial decision saw us reduced to 12 men, but the boys showed real grit and determination to hold firm and take that lead into half-time.

The second half started with Jude’s piling on the pressure, and they managed to level it up at 12–12 after forcing another repeat set. At that point, it was game on.

Coaches Tom and Craig challenged the boys to dig deep — and that’s exactly what they did. What followed was some of the best defensive effort we’ve seen, with the team working tirelessly for each other in a real arm wrestle.

The breakthrough came again through CJ, who powered over and converted his own try to make it 18–12. From the restart, the lads executed a great attacking shape, and CJ produced a moment of magic — breaking three tackles to score a fantastic solo effort and stretch the lead to 24–12.

A late try from Jude’s kept things honest, but the Scorpions saw the game out strongly to secure a well-deserved win 👏

Massive credit to every single player today — the effort, attitude and resilience, especially being a man down, was outstanding. When it mattered most, the boys stood up and delivered 🔵🦂

We don’t set out to make super league or international players. We focus on giving kids something different to try and to enjoy playing the greatest sport in the world. In doing so this opens the door for our juniors to reach heights that kids in Blackpool don’t get. We are so proud of Carter not just because his been picked for Scotland Rugby League but the journey his been on to get him to this point. This year we have had 8 kids on super league pathways and 7 lads trial for international teams. If you want your child to be involved in a club this is the one that does more then most to support and guide everyone who comes down 🦂🏉💙

Blackpool Scorpions u16s 20
Crosfields 14

What a day today turned out to be. After a tough start to the season we finally turned up and put in a performance of the highest quality.

We started the match with some outstanding line speed and contact in defence which put the previously unbeaten Crosfields under pressure.

With the ball we played some great rugby with plenty of ball movement.

Fresh off his selection for Scotland Carter shields chased a high kick and got his reward with the first try of the match.

After the Scorpions had defended their try line they got the ball back and moved upfield quickly and another great attacking move created the space for our new signing Daniel to score in the corner.

We went in at half time 8-0 up but Crosfields responded really well and as we tired slightly they took advantage to go 14-8 up but our lads didn't give up and after another good defensive effort excellent kick pressure forced a poor kick and our new winger Reggie pounced and kicked the ball forwards towards the try line and got a kind bounce to score next to the posts.

Shortly afterwards Kai again chasing everything that moved got to a loose ball which he kicked forward to score to secure a memorable victory.

Unbelievable team effort today which shows just what this team can do with just a bit of belief.

Massive thank you to everyone that came to support us today.

In 2019 we started our junior section up hoping to get kids into the greatest sport in the world. Covid hit and put a bump in the road but after the lockdown we continued to try and raise the profile of the sport and our club. On days like last Sunday seeing over 150 kids playing in league games was beyond what we thought could be achieved. We don’t stop here we continue to push and give everyone a chance to try rugby league at least once. Our passion and drive has not changed and we continue with our dream “to make Blackpool a rugby town” 🦂🏉💪
