🏉 MATCH REPORT | CLOCK FACE MINORS U12s 34–24 BLACKPOOL SCORPIONS U12s 🦂💙

Today we travelled to St Helens to take on Clock Face Miners ARLFC.

With Clock Face facing low numbers, we were more than happy to lend them a few of our players so the match could go ahead a great example of the spirit and sportsmanship we love to see in rugby league. 👏🏉

We got off to a very slow start, allowing Clock Face to take an early lead. The boys struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, where we were trailing 24-0, but after the break it was a completely different story.

The Scorpions seemed to wake up and fought their way back into the game. 💪 The second half saw some great effort, determination and teamwork as we battled hard and closed the gap.

It was a very close contest towards the end, but unfortunately it just wasn't our day, with Clock Face taking the win 34–24.

Despite the result, there was plenty for the coaches, players and parents to be proud of. The boys never gave up and kept fighting right until the final whistle. 💙🦂

🫶 Special Mention

A huge special mention to Teddy, who was due to play today but unfortunately picked up an injury playing rugby union before our league match.

Despite being unable to play, Teddy still came along to watch and support his teammates. That means a huge amount to the coaches and the whole team. That's what being part of the is all about! 💙🫶💙

Billy was the first to step up and offer his help to the opposition this morning, playing with so much heart and spirit for both teams. He really impressed the other parents with his amazing skills and how incredibly polite and courteous he was on the field!

Well done to all the boys who represented the Scorpions today. Keep your heads up, keep working hard and keep supporting each other.

🏉 BLACKPOOL SCORPIONS U12s – MATCH REPORT 🦂

Blackpool Scorpions U12s 16–18 Folly Lane Crusaders

A tough one today as we welcomed Folly Lane Crusaders to Common Edge Road, the home of the Blackpool Scorpions.

It was a game decided by small margins and, unfortunately, a few decisions that didn’t go our way. But looking at the bigger picture, this group of players showed exactly what they are made of.

The first half was a challenge, but the response after the break was outstanding. The boys came out with belief, determination and a real desire to fight their way back into the game. We didn’t deserve to lose on the strength of that second half performance.

They gave everything right until the final whistle and never stopped believing they could get something from the game. 💪🦂

These are the games where we learn. A game of margins and decisions and one we will learn from, improve from and come back stronger from.

The belief shown by both the coaches and players on game day is evident, and that belief is something this group should be incredibly proud of.

When you think back just a few years ago Galvin started the junior section back up having not had any juniors for years probably near a decade. The training sessions was on a Thursday 6-7 them first few weeks with no kids turning up it would of been easy and maybe sensible option was to give up. But Galvin believed and he did not stop and today we have over 200 juniors training/playing rugby league that is something amazing for any club in any sport but to do it out of the heartlands is unheard of 🦂🏉💪

This week Blackpool Scorpions U14s take on Barrow Island ARLFC — and this one means business.

Barrow haven’t lost in the league in nearly TWO YEARS. Last time we played them away, we took a heavy beating. The boys haven’t forgotten it, and they’ve been training hard with Tom and Craig to make sure this time is different.

Now we need YOU. 👏

Get down to the sideline, bring the noise, and make it the fortress it needs to be. Every shout, every clap, every bit of support gives these lads that extra bit of strength to go out and get the result they’ve worked for.

Let’s fill that sideline and back the boys all the way. 💪

Halton Farnworth Hornets Blacks vs. Blackpool Scorpions U12s
​5th July 2026

​The Blackpool Scorpions traveled away this weekend for their second encounter of the season against a disciplined and formidable Halton Farnworth Hornets Blacks side. It was a game of two halves that tested the grit, determination, and resilience of the Scorpions.

​A Steep Challenge facing a higher division team, the Scorpions faced immediate pressure from the kickoff. The Hornets demonstrated their quality, utilizing a well-drilled attacking structure to break through the defensive line repeatedly. By the time the halftime whistle blew, the Scorpions found themselves trailing 22-0.

​Despite the challenging first half, the Scorpions refused to drop their heads. A focused halftime team talk reignited their passion, and the team emerged with renewed energy. They began to play with composure, utilizing their full set of tackles and effective offloading to put the Hornets under pressure.
​The Scorpions’ persistence paid off with a brilliant team effort, resulting in the first try of the match for Blake. While the conversion was unfortunately missed, the momentum had clearly shifted.

​Showing great teamwork and discipline in the final stages, Jude powered over the line for the Scorpions' second try. Jude followed up the score by slotting a successful conversion, bringing the final score to 28-10.

​The coaching staff was incredibly proud of the entire squad's performance. The match showcased significant improvements in decision-making, defensive tackling, and driving play. Every player contributed to the effort, proving that the hard work being put into training is translating onto the pitch.

Golborne Parkside ARLFC U12s v Blackpool Scorpions U12s

FT Score 32-12

Blackpool Scorpions Under 12s travelled to league leaders Golborne Parkside on Sunday morning and produced one of their most encouraging performances of the season despite a 32-12 defeat.

Golborne opened the scoring early, but the Scorps responded brilliantly through Blake, who crossed for the first of his three tries after some determined attacking play. The home side continued to test the Scorpions' defence, but the visitors showed great resilience and commitment throughout the first half. Blake grabbed his second try before the break, although the conversions proved elusive, leaving the score at 16-8 in favour of the hosts.

The second half saw the Scorps continue to battle against a very strong Golborne side. Their hard work and determination were rewarded when Blake completed his hat-trick with another well-taken try.

Despite Golborne adding further scores to secure a 32-12 victory, the result didn't reflect the huge strides made by the Scorpions.

The coaches were delighted with the team's performance, praising the significant improvement in line defence, attitude, communication and the use of effective dummy runs. Every player worked tirelessly until the final whistle, supported one another throughout, and showed the character that makes this team so enjoyable to coach.

While the scoreboard favoured the home side, it certainly felt like a win in terms of effort, development and teamwork against one of the league's strongest teams.

There were also special mentions for several players. Harrison showed tremendous bravery after taking a heavy knock but carried on battling for the team. Leland impressed with some strong scoots from dummy-half, Big Bill put in a series of powerful tackles, and Jacob made the most of his 20-minute spell on the pitch with a great contribution.

A huge thank you goes to coaches Terry, Ronnie and Danny for their continued hard work. Special thanks also to Coach Mason, who came down to say goodbye before moving back to Wales. We wish him all the very best for the future. As Mason said himself, it's not goodbye it's "see you later."
