🌊Nearly half a century ago, this day changed my life conquering the English Channel and the start of a lifetime of commitment to charity fundraising and community.

🏃What a fantastic turn out at the Colour Run today for
Living Without Abuse and was delighted to host it.

💜 Thank you to everyone who took part as all funds go to LWA, a charity dedicated to supporting men, women and children who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence.

🏆We were honoured today to be given the High Sheriff of Leicestershire Award by Mel Thomas Qpm recognising the invaluable work of our charity.

🏆Thanks also to the Mayor of Charnwood for choosing, like I did during my Mayoral year, the LWA as one of his chosen charities.

✔️All participants were "warmed up" by Karen Hix and what fun.

🪖Such a poignant Centenary Service today at Castle Hill War Memorial, Mountsorrel.

🎖️Privileged to be part of this day and an honour for Julie to present a commemorative gift marking the centenary to
Mountsorrel Heritage Group
and the Mountsorrel Branch of the Royal British Legion .

💜 Despite the hot weather, the first thing I saw getting out of my car at the "Green", were the beautiful flowers.

MMC Venue Mountsorrel Poppy Display 2026 and others who made such a special day.

🎶The Leicestershire Co-op Band played some music after the service at the MMC.

🎖️ Come and join the
Mountsorrel Parish Council together with the Mountsorrel Branch of the
Royal British Legion, for a special remembrance and commemoration ceremony marking the 100th Anniversary of the Castle Hill War Memorial.

🪖 Erected in 1926 to honour the local men who gave their lives during the First World War, and later updated to include those who fell in the Second World War, the Castle Hill War Memorial remains at the heart of Mountsorrel’s history, remembrance and community.

✔️Programme of Events:

11.00am – Remembrance Service on Castle Hill. All Mountsorrel residents are warmly invited to attend.

For those who would prefer not to make the climb to Castle Hill, the full service will be shown live on screen in the main hall at the Mountsorrel Memorial Centre (MMC)

12.00 noon – Refreshments and Music Following the service, refreshments will be served at the MMC, with music provided by the Leicestershire Co-op Band.

12.45pm – Reading of the Roll of Honour

1.15pm – Musical Performance A further performance by the Leicestershire Co-op Band will conclude the public part of the day’s events.
