Blackford Highland Games

Blackford Highland Games Founded in 1870, one of Scotland's original traditional games. The famous Blackford Highland Games was founded in August 1870.

Now held on the park, an area of land loaned to the community by the landowner. A condition of the loan is that the Highland Games are held there annually in May. We welcome visitors to our Games with a full list of events including throwing the hammer, tossing the caber, putting the shot, tug o’ war, athletics, track and field events, dancing with side shows, trade and refreshment stands.

For more than 150 years, the Blackford Highland Games have stood as one of Scotland’s most enduring expressions of community, culture, and Highland spirit. First held in 1870, the Games were born from a desire to bring people together, neighbours, families, farmers, athletes, musicians all gathering on the games field to honour the customs that define rural Scotland. In addition to local visitors the games saw visitors from Germany, numerous states in the US, France, Canada, South Africa and Switzerland. Not to forget our numerous canine Friends and thier owners.
