🏒🖤💛 THAT’S A WRAP, SEAGULLS! 💛🖤🏒

Well, that’s the end of the season.

It didn’t quite go to plan, and unfortunately we’ve ended our SIHC Play-Off weekend without a win. We had a few narrow losses and battled hard right until the final whistle. Although we’re heading home earlier than we wanted, every single Seagull can hold their head high knowing they left absolutely everything on the ice. 💪

It’s about the friendships.
It’s about the dressing room.
It’s about the laughs.
It’s about picking each other up.
It’s about leaving everything on the ice for the person beside you.

The results might not have gone our way this season, but we couldn’t be prouder of this group.

Every player has played their part. Every player has contributed. And every player is part of the Wyre Seagulls family. 🖤💛

The season may be over, but the Seagulls family goes on.

🏒 Battle of the Biscuit 2026 🏒

What an incredible weekend of hockey! 💛🖤

Firstly, a huge thank you to the Kingston Reapers Ice Hockey Club for once again inviting us to take part in the epic Battle of the Biscuit tournament. We have loved every single minute of it, and it's always a pleasure to be part of such a fantastic event.

thank you for leaving absolutely everything out on the ice. The determination, teamwork, passion and heart you showed throughout the weekend made us all incredibly proud. You played some outstanding hockey and represented the club with pride from start to finish.

A massive congratulations to Lewis Slaven on being named the Wyre Seagulls Tournament MVP! 👏🏒 A thoroughly deserved award after a brilliant weekend.

Battle of the Biscuit – Game 8 (Upper Semi-Final)

FULL TIME

🟡⚫ Wyre Seagulls 1 – 5 Grimsby Trawlers ⚫🟡

The Seagulls' incredible Battle of the Biscuit journey came to an end in the Upper Semi-Final against a strong Grimsby Trawlers side.

Wyre couldn't have asked for a better start. Lewis Slaven fired the Seagulls into an early lead, and for the opening 10 minutes Wyre looked confident, composed and in control, frustrating the Trawlers and showing exactly why they had earned their place in the semi-finals.

As the game settled, Grimsby found another gear. Three quick-fire goals before the break swung the momentum completely, turning a 1-0 Seagulls lead into a 3-1 Grimsby advantage at half-time.

With a place in the final on the line, Wyre came out after the break determined to fight until the very end. Playing with a short bench, every player emptied the tank, throwing themselves into every battle, blocking shots, chasing every puck and refusing to let their heads drop.

As fatigue inevitably set in, Grimsby's extra legs began to tell. The Trawlers added two further goals in the second half to seal a 5-1 victory, bringing the Seagulls' tournament to an end.

While the result wasn't the one we wanted, every single player should be immensely proud. To recover from our opening defeat, reach the Upper Semi-Final, and compete with heart, passion and determination throughout the weekend is something this team can hold its head high about.

Thank you to everyone who supported us over the weekend, whether from the stands or from afar. Your backing means everything.

💛🖤 This result doesn't define us. The fight, togetherness and pride shown throughout the tournament is what being a Wyre Seagull is all about. We'll be back stronger.

We finish 4th in the league meaning we make it to the upper playoffs.

Next game is a knock out against Grimsby. We win we go to the final, we lose we go home.

Battle of the Biscuit – Game 7 (Day 2)

FULL TIME

🟡⚫ Wyre Seagulls 3 – 3 Kingston Reapers ⚫🟡

What a game. What a comeback.

The Seagulls showed incredible heart and determination to fight back from 2-0 down against the Kingston Reapers, only to be denied victory in the closing stages of a thrilling contest.

Kingston made the brighter start, capitalising on their chances to build a two-goal advantage. With the Seagulls staring down the barrel, the response was exactly what this team is all about.

The comeback began with a brilliant solo effort from Lewis Slaven, who weaved his way through the Reapers' defence before calmly finishing to halve the deficit and spark belief throughout the team.

Moments later, #90 Zander Faulkner held his nerve from the penalty shot, burying the puck to level the scores at 2-2.

With the momentum completely in Wyre's favour, it was Faulkner again who found the back of the net, grabbing his second of the game to complete the turnaround and put the Seagulls 3-2 ahead.

Just as it looked like Wyre had completed a memorable comeback, the Reapers found an equaliser in the final two minutes, ensuring the points were shared in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Although victory slipped away late on, the character shown by the Seagulls to recover from two goals down was outstanding and another example of the belief running through this squad.

Battle of the Biscuit – Game 6 (Day 2)

FULL TIME

🟡⚫ Wyre Seagulls 2 – 2 Durham Dragons ⚫🟡

What a way to start Day 2!

The Seagulls earned a hard-fought point after an entertaining battle with the Durham Dragons, showing tremendous character to come from behind.

Wyre struck first through #90 Zander Faulkner, who continued his impressive tournament with another well-taken goal to give the Seagulls an early advantage.

Durham responded strongly, scoring twice to turn the game around and put themselves 2-1 ahead. With time running down, it looked as though the Dragons would hold on for the win.

But this Seagulls team never knows when it's beaten.

Step forward #66 Danny Whitworth. Picking up the puck, Danny produced a moment of pure magic, pulling off a sensational McDavid-style spin-o-rama before finishing with a sublime backhand that left everyone watching in disbelief. It was a goal worthy of winning any game and ensured the Seagulls deservedly came away with a 2-2 draw.

A huge congratulations to #66 Danny Whitworth, whose stunning equaliser earned him the well-deserved Winner of the Hat award.

Another battling performance, another point on the board, and plenty of positives to take into the remaining games.
