A lovely morning for my first event as Run Director! A huge thank you to my trusty Event Director, Feridun, for all his support and guidance this week.
Conditions were perfect for running, although the course was a little damp in places, so I reminded everyone to take care on the slippery grass.
Unfortunately, there were a couple of incidents at the finish involving dog walkers. Dogs are very welcome at parkrun, but please make sure they are kept under control at all times. Runners, thank you for being patient and considerate too; parkrun is for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. Two of them did accidentally head to Castle Park in Colchester instead 😬but thankfully our regular volunteers were ready to step in and keep everything running smoothly. As our parkrun continues to grow, please do consider volunteering in the future.
We celebrated two fantastic milestones this morning: Keith Borrett completed his 650th parkrun, and Stuart Parkes completed his 100th. Congratulations to you both!
We also welcomed visitors from Northumberland, Ipswich, Rutland, Southend, and, furthest of all, Poland. It was lovely to have parkrun Ambassador Katrina Dell with us too, supporting both the first-timers’ welcome and main briefing in sign language.
Photos from today will be uploaded to Facebook over the coming days, so please keep an eye on our page.
That’s all from me this week. I’ll hand over to Bran, who will be Run Director next week.
