One Class Is Closing, But The Message Is Bigger…
Many of you know that I teach Chair Exercise classes through a community project called TouchPoint who are a wonderful local charity that provide activities & support within the community.
Sadly, one of my Chair Exercise classes, Chair Boogie, will be coming to an end at the end of June due to limited funding. While this is disappointing, it has reminded me just how important charities like TouchPoint are.
They run a wide variety of activities as well as fitness & well-being sessions which are completely free to attend, helping people stay active, improve their physical health, boost their confidence as well as reduce feelings of loneliness & isolation. They also run a incredible Food Share to help reduce food going into landfill waste offering to the public which for many is a lifesaver to feed themselves & their families.
For many, these classes not just about exercise. It’s about friendship, routine, support & being part of a community.
TouchPoint operates a “Donate What You Can” scheme, allowing those who are able to contribute towards the continuation of these valuable services no matter how small or big on the amounts, they are truly grateful.
Every donation, no matter how small, goes back into the charity to help support activities that make a real difference to people’s lives.
Community charities often work quietly behind the scenes, but their impact is huge.
Majority of the staff are volunteers & all the staff involved help people stay connected, improve wellbeing & create opportunities that might otherwise not exist.
If you’ve ever benefited from a local charity, attended a community group, or simply believe in supporting the wellbeing of others, please consider supporting organisations like TouchPoint whenever you can.
If you have gotten this far reading this post I want to say thank you & thank you to everyone who has attended, supported, donated & helped make these classes such a welcoming and positive place to be. ❤️
