💥 A HUGE WIN FOR THE CASTLE AT THE MANOR! 💥

Yesterday, the Castle hosted Oswestry 2nds at The Manor Ground. After losing the toss, we were put into bat first.

🏏 Jacob Cintra (11) opened alongside Tom Graham (8), before Gar W (37) and Dave Morris (74) put together an important partnership to build the Castle innings. Tom Moulder then made a valuable 29* down the order, helping Bishops Castle post a respectable 201 from their 40 overs.

🎯 The Castle bowlers then put on an absolute masterclass. Gar W was the pick of the attack, finishing with 6/25 from 12 overs, while Dave Morris chipped in with an excellent 3/13 and Adam Fifield took the other wicket with 1/9.

Oswestry were bowled out for just 90 in 36.4 overs, securing a huge 111-run victory for the Castle! 👏

The win sees us leapfrog Oswestry in the league table and move up into 3rd place! 🔥

Next week, we travel to 2nd-placed Knockin for another huge clash at the top of the table… 👀🏏

The Club is sad to pass on news about a long term player of the Club.
John Humphreys passed away on Sunday August 9th at the Cliffdale Nursing Home in Pontesbury at the age of 80.
John first played for BCCC on June 17th 1961 at Home to Knighton, scoring 11, batting at No.9 and bowling 3 overs for 19, his first wickets for the Club came against Church Stretton taking 3-7 off 7 overs on July 29th.
His last appearance was on September 4th 1993 away against NALGO at Shirehall in our first League Season, his last wickets were on August 21st away at Calverhall taking 3-16 off 8 overs.
His Career figures for BCCC, were 220 matches, 2662 runs, 465 wickets & 75 catches, best bowling 9-20, taking 5 wickets on 26 occasions and his highest score was 115 away at Knighton including a record 7th wicket stand of 111 in which another old stager Mike Lennox scored 5 !
Before BCCC joined the League cricket setup in 1993, John played League Cricket for GKN Sankey in the Border Counties League in the late 70's and early 80's and also for Craven Arms for 10 years up until the 1992 season.
He was also a talented footballer playing for Bishops Castle Town and across Mid Wales for a variety of Clubs.
There will be Service at Emstrey Crematorium, Shrewsbury at a Date to be arranged.

🏏 CASTLE GET A 9-WICKET WIN! 🏏

Another fantastic all-round performance from Bishops Castle CC! 💪🔥

After winning the toss and electing to field, Castle’s bowlers kept things under control, restricting Lilleshall CC to 172/6 from their 40 overs. 🎯 Will Middleton led the way with 3/44, supported by Gar W (1/35), Andy Short (1/29) and Jack Perry (1/40).

Castle made light work of the chase, reaching 176/1 in 33.3 overs. Jonathan Price led the way with a superb 78*, while Gar W continued his excellent all-round performance with an unbeaten 54*. 👏 Tom Graham chipped in with a useful 11, helping Castle on their way to another convincing victory.

⭐ A special mention to Oscar Waring, who made his senior debut for the Castle! A brilliant milestone and hopefully the first of many senior appearances. 👏🏏

A dominant performance - Castle win by 9 wickets! 💙🏏
