Not the Sunday we had originally planned - but we actually got out to an event 🥳🥳 just not with the planned horse 🙄
We had Arthur Shelby in for his first event at Northallerton express eventing (always been our go to with the youngsters!) and he decided to come in with a great big gash on his leg and huge swelling on his belly - so a vet’s visit and box rest was his new plan!
We are very fortunate to have a few (🫣) of horses at home so one looking round the stables who decided to take Dan’s horse Sylvester for his first event with absolutely zero preparation 🤣 he was an absolute superstar- a little wide eyed at the situation but he took it all in his stride and we had a super day out with him! He really has a great attitude and really tries his hardest for you!

Lovely trip to Auckland Equestrian this evening for Arthur and Gus’s first jump round an actual course of fences. What a brilliant venue we have on our doorstep which gave the boys a brilliant start to course jumping!
Our lovely friend Aby popped over to help ride the other while I was jumping and meant Dan could be free to adjust fences!
Arthur says it’s only worth jumping when the fences get bigger, he’s far too laid back for a TB! Aby definitely want to steal him as a dressage horse 🤣
And Gus had a very jolly look around finding his confidence with each fence, considering he’s only jumped a few fences at home he exceeded our expectations🥰

Great trip out to Foxberry Chasers this afternoon
With Arthur Shelby and Sylvester.
The weather we drove through to get there made us question our decision, however there wasn’t as much as a raindrop at Foxberry!
We used the schooling field to get a flow around the fences and the boys were on top form- bold brave and had lovely attitudes!
We are lucky to have some amazing schooling facilities so close!

Baby G’s first solo trip out today to have another blast at dressage!
We went HC hense the smart casual outfits 😂
What a lovely boy he was- first time travelling solo, warmed up like a super star, lovely tests with added vocals 🎶 and a pleasure to be around 😍 getting a lovely 68 and 69%
The smile on my face when riding the youngsters says it all!
Ivesley Equestrian Centre is my go to for the young horses and first timers- amazingly friendly run competition! Lovely judging from Tracey Fox and lovely to catch up with friends and meet new ones! Well done everyone!

Tonight we waved goodbye to Polly who came in for riding away 4 weeks ago, she finished her stay with a lovely trip to the forest 🌳 she has blossomed in to a beautiful brave girl who loves exploring, she’s also gone home a little less hairy than she came 🪒 ✂️
It doesn’t matter if they are with us for a week or longer, they become a part of our family and we really do miss them when they go back home!
📆 i do have spaces over the summer and autumn for backing and breaking, schooling and holiday livery however there is a waiting list so if you have dates in mind let me know sooner rather than later!

Great first dressage outing for Baby G and Arthur Shelby!
Both being very well behaved for their first training show and were exceptionally well behaved in the boards!
Auckland Equestrian put on a fabulous event and a really well dressed arena to get the youngsters used to environment and a lovely friendly atmosphere - definitely worth a trip for young or inexperienced horses.

Arthur Shelby 😍
First time out XC and first time ever seeing an XC fence and only 4th time jumping.
We went for the experience and to give him a nice show round and boy did have an amazing experience!
He soon got to grips with the job and he was away- he was even lead horse for a lot of the jumps. Bold, brave and full of scope.
Lovely trip out with Alex and Connie, Dan and Sylvester!
Gatherley Equestrian was a great venue for the youngsters first trip out, very educational!

4yo Polly (Polly Pocket to her friends) arrived Saturday night to take on the “next step” in her education.
She’s had a fantastic start to her work life and came fully confident to have a rider mount and sit on her, she just needed some guidance in the next step of riding away!
We’ve learnt the leg aids and forward and we are away!
She’s going to be a fun alrounder hacking horse so tonight she’s had her 2nd hack out and led the ride!
We are mixing up the hacking with the arena, in the arena she is learning to get used to her reflection in the mirrors and how to get over “obstacles” and out hacking she’s exploring the big wide world!
