Last night the Bishop Auckland Golf Club Juniors travelled to Hartlepool GC for their league match. Although a new venue for 4 of the 5 man team all matches were extremely close, a credit to everyone. The final result of a halved match overall was a great achievement. Players on both teams were seen to communicate really well with each other, it's great to see team spirit building week on week.

Once again, representing Bishop Auckland Golf Club Juniors, tonight in the last 16 of the DCGU Junior Knockout, George King & Jenson Cullen decisively won their match against Wynyard 8&6. Both players continued their partnership playing extremely steady, controlled golf.

On Monday evening Bishop Auckland Golf Club Juniors hosted Blackwell GC in the first round of the DCGU Junior Clark Cup. With some excellent matches the home team kept their cool and produced a 4-1 win. Thanks to players Callum, Ben, Charlie, Coby & Jenson also to caddies and supporters. Blackwell were due to return to BAGC on Tuesday for a league match but due to the course being closed we look forward to welcoming them back to the High Plains soon.

⭐ Student Spotlight ⭐

We are so proud of Jenson Cullen in Year 8. Jenson was presented with the Most Improved Golfer Award at Bishop Auckland Golf Club earlier this year. This award recognises the dedication and hard work he has put into his game over the past 12 months, during which time he has shown an unbelievable level of improvement.

Following a selection day back in October, Jenson also secured his place in the Durham County Golf Union Under 14s team for the second consecutive year, a brilliant achievement and a testament to his continued progress and commitment to the sport.

To round off a successful winter season, Jenson finished as a double winner in the Junior Winter League at Bishop Auckland Golf Club. He posted the best five scores over the winter series and also accumulated the highest number of league points overall.

In addition, Jenson has qualified for the Race to Woodhall Spa. He earned his place after recording the best overall junior performance in the men’s medal competitions at Bishop Auckland Golf Club during the 2025 season. As a result, he will attend a regional qualifier at Eaglescliffe Golf Club in July, where the top four players will progress to compete at Woodhall Spa.

What an incredible achievement, and we look forward to following his success.

Our Junior League Matches took the team to Seaton Carew last night. Bishop Auckland Golf Club Juniors certainly proved themselves on a renowned, challenging links course, a definite contrast to the parkland of BAGC.
Charlie, Coby, Jenson, Toby & Elliot won 6 - 4 and are becoming a "team" which has great potential.
Thanks to everyone at SCGC for the condition of the course, the spirit in which all games were played and their hospitality.

Bishop Auckland Golf Club Juniors played their first league match of the 2026 season at Barnard Castle Golf Club. All matches were played in great spirits with the BAGC team of Charlie, Coby, Jenson, Finlay G & Elliot losing 2 games to 3. Thanks to Chris & his team for their hospitality - away matches are always a challenge.

As a reminder to all DCGU Juniors under 21 at the start of 2026, the following competitions are available to enter this year.
One event is restricted to U18s.
Singles events are net competitions but there are also scratch prizes.
All entrants should be course competent and able to play alone.
