Bishop Auckland FC is delighted to announce the return of battling midfielder John Howard.
John rejoins the club for his third spell following a hugely successful season with Redcar Athletic.
A tough-tackling, no-nonsense midfielder, John came through the ranks at Middlesbrough’s renowned Academy, where he was coached by former Spennymoor Town manager Graeme Lee.
John initially joined the club in 2023 following a spell with Northallerton Town and played a key role in our 2023/24 title-winning campaign.
Speaking after John put pen to paper, manager Martin Gray said:
“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring John Howard back to the club. As soon as I heard he was available, he immediately stood out as someone who could strengthen our squad. Having come up against Redcar last season and watched John on several occasions, I’ve always been impressed by his work rate, determination and technical ability. He’s the type of player who gives everything for the team and will add real quality to the group. After speaking with John, it became clear that we share the same ambitions for the future of the club. Having previously played for Bishop, he understands what this club means and is eager to help get it back to where it belongs. We’re excited to welcome him back and look forward to seeing the impact he’ll make this season.”
John added:
“I’m really excited to be back at Bishop. It’s a fantastic club with fantastic people. With the players Martin has brought in, we should be pushing to have a really successful season.”
Welcome back, John. 💙🩵
